La maison de mode italienne Versace vient d’avoir son nouveau propriétaire. Le groupe américain Michael Kors a officiellement annoncé le rachat de la griffe le mardi 25 septembre dernier. Le groupe a acquis la marque à la méduse pour une somme d’environ 1,83 milliard d’euros. Ce rachat va permettre à la maison d’avoir un futur plus brillant. Même si Versace accumule un bénéfice de près de 15 millions d’euros en 2016, les résultats financiers en sont restés là l’année dernière.
« L’acquisition de Versace est un cap important pour notre groupe. Avec nos ressources, nous pensons que Versace va grandir pour dépasser deux milliards de dollars de chiffre d’affaires » a énoncé John Idol le directeur de Michael Kors dans un communiqué.
Versace tient une place importante dans le monde de la mode et du luxe
La maison italienne a vu le jour en 1978 et a été fondée par le styliste Gianni Versace et son frère Santo. Elle a connu des hauts et des bas mais continue d’exister et de séduire des fans. Lors de l’assassinat de Gianni en 1997, c’est Donatella qui a repris les choses en main. Elle n’est autre que la sœur de Gianni et Santo. Les ventes se sont donc améliorées avec le temps avant de stagner en 2017. Les 20% de la maison appartenaient au fond américain Blackrock tandis que le reste revenait à la famille Versace.
La créativité de la maison et l’originalité de ses créations ont fait le succès de la marque. Il est à rappeler que ce rachat par le groupe américain fait suite à l’achat de Jimmy Choo l’an passé.
Donatella Versace, qui gardera son poste en tant que directrice artistique a expliqué que : « Cela fait plus de 20 ans que j’ai repris l’entreprise avec mon frère Santo et ma fille Allegra. Je suis fière que Versace reste très forte dans la mode et la culture moderne. Versace n’est pas seulement synonyme de son style emblématique et incomparable, mais aussi de l’inclusion et de la diversité, tout en permettant aux gens de s’exprimer. Santo, Allegra et moi-même reconnaissance que cette prochaine étape permettra à Versace d’atteindre son plein potentiel ».
Le rachat de la griffe par le groupe américain ne sera donc que favorable pour la maison italienne. Il est à noter que la totalité des actions sera acquise par le groupe de mode américain. Et Blackrock sera donc évidemment exclu du capital.
Un rachat qui garantira le succès de Versace
Le groupe américain Michael Kors est une maison très populaire aux États-Unis. La marque fait de nombreux adeptes et captive les célébrités telles que Michelle Obama, Nicole Kidman ou encore Catherine Zeta-Jones. Le groupe a été fondé en 1981 et s’est fait une renommée pour ses créations haut de gamme.
C’est une fierté pour le patron du groupe, John Idol d’avoir acquis la griffe italienne. « Nous sommes ravis d’avoir Versace dans notre famille de marques de luxe et nous nous engageons à investir sa croissance ». Et selon lui, Donatella Versace a entièrement sa place en tant que directrice artistique tout simplement parce que son style reflète l’esthétique de la marque.
La transaction devrait être menée à son terme d’ici le quatrième trimestre de cette année. Versace entamera donc un nouveau chapitre de son existence.
Le groupe a d’ailleurs annoncé une stratégie d’expansion et d’internationalisation l’année dernière. Il a commencé par acquérir la maison de chaussures et de sacs de luxe Jimmy Choo. On peut donc dire que ce rachat sera non seulement bénéfique pour le groupe américain, mais également pour Versace. La maison italienne devra certainement voir ses ventes en hausse très prochainement. Tandis que Michael Kors s’intègre en douce mais surement dans le monde du luxe international.
