Le terroir est composé à 70 % d’un sol argilo graveleux et 30 % d’un sol argilo calcaire, ce qui apporte puissance et élégance à ses vins. Contrairement à l’encépagement classique du Médoc, la véritable signature de Château Larrivaux est le choix de cultiver majoritairement le merlot, plus adapté au terroir, ce qui permet d’obtenir des vins ronds et charnus. L’encépagement du vignoble est composé de 61 % Merlot, 26 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 8 % Cabernet Franc et 5 % Petit Verdot.
La propriété produit trois vins : Château Larrivaux, Château Le Borderon et L’X de Larrivaux.

Ces conditions ont amené à récolter de beaux raisins, au Château Larrivaux les vendanges se sont déroulées du 7 au 11 octobre pour les Merlots et les 14 et 15 octobre pour les Cabernets et Petit Verdot.
Le vin est élevé en barrique de chêne français, dont 20 % neuves et 80 % une cuvée.
Château Larrivaux 2014 est issu de l’assemblage de 72 % Merlot, 17 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 7 % Cabernet Franc et 4 % Petit Verdot.
