In the hushed world of the High quality watchmaking, there are few creations capable of bringing together technical prowess, mechanical poetry and absolute mastery of the Crafts. With Stopover in the Amazon, his first pocket watch from the collection Stopovers Around the World, Louis Vuitton signs the most complex watchmaking work in its history, a manifesto that redefines the codes of the genre.
A work on the border between reality and imagination
Inspired by the lushness of the Amazon rainforest, Stopover in the Amazon embodies the soul of travel dear to Louis Vuitton, where escape becomes a spectacle. Behind the dial, an animated scene unfolds: a canoe cuts through the vegetation, Louis Vuitton trunks open to reveal golden Monogram LV flowers, while seven automatons, two parrots, a snake, a monkey, and other animal actors, react in a perfectly synchronized choreography.
This setting, activated by a discreet push-button located at six o'clock, brings to life fifteen moving elements, each animated according to its own rhythm. At twelve o'clock, a rose gold compass spins, a final nod to the spirit of adventure.
Exceptional mechanics
This miniature theater is based on the caliber LFT AU14.03, a hand-wound movement incorporating a minute repeater, a tourbillon, and a Jacquemart mechanism. With 555 components, 72 rubies, and 8 days of power reserve, this caliber is a demonstration of extreme know-how.
Each component, even the invisible one, has benefited from meticulous care: 646 chamfered internal angles, manual engravings, mirror-polished ratchet in a concave shape, barrel air conditioning, solid gold wheels, bridges decorated with Côtes de Genève… Result: 500 hours of work for the movement alone, entrusted to a single master watchmaker.

The excellence of the Crafts
More Stopover in the Amazon would not be a masterpiece without the virtuosity of the workshops of The Arts Factory, in Geneva. The tropical scene is sculpted in gold, hand-engraved, and enhanced by the most delicate enameling techniques: miniature enamel, translucent enamel, sequined, in the 31 available shades: meticulously superimposed over the course of 30 successive cookings.
The parrots come to life beneath feathers of bright red enamel, one of the most fragile shades, the snake is adorned with enameled scales forming a subtle gradient, the waterfall in the background evokes an aquatic mist thanks to a delicate interplay of greens and whites. Even the domed sapphire crystal is decorated with miniature enamel, a first for Louis Vuitton.

A trunk for eternity
Heir to the Maison's trunk-making history, the watch comes with a exceptional case a custom-made trunk and bag inspired by the 1906 Motor's bag, both in exotic green leather matching the dial. This leather goods duo echoes the first travel companions imagined by Louis Vuitton for yesterday's explorers and today's collectors.
The pocket watch, reinvented
Against the current of the wristwatch, Stopover in the Amazon celebrates the return of the pocket watch, no longer as an outdated accessory, but as functional artworkThe time is read on the back, so as not to interrupt the spectacle of the dial. It is a double perspective: art in front, mechanics behind.
With 1 hours of work et two and a half years of development, Stopover in the Amazon transcends time. It is the culmination of a diverse range of expertise—watchmaking, engraving, and enameling—that only a House like Louis Vuitton, with its rich heritage of travel and innovation, could bring together in a single case.
This first chapter of the collection Stopovers Around the World doesn't just celebrate technical excellence. It tells a story. A miniature odyssey, between nature, luxury, and legend.
Technical specifications
The pocket watch Stopover in the Amazon is powered by the LFT AU14.03 caliber, a hand-wound mechanical movement incorporating a minute repeater and a tourbillon, and boasting an impressive eight-day power reserve.
