French company Whisper Yachts present at the Cannes Yachting Festival

A big red carpet for Whisper Yachts, which will present its eco-responsible and autonomous yachts during the Cannes Yachting Festival, this unmissable global event from September 12 to 17, 2023 for all yachting enthusiasts and professionals.

Whisper Yachts is taking a new step in the marketing of autonomous and eco-responsible yachts: the innovative French company is participating in the Cannes World Yachting Festival from September 12 to 17, 2023.

Whisper Yachts, a bridge between dream and reality

Launched in 2019, Whisper Yachts aims to fill a gap in a growing market: offering solutions that are more respectful of the marine environment and responding to the growing interest of boaters in ecology.

Guy Marchal, founder of Whisper Yachts, explain : " During my long career as an engineer, I had the opportunity to try out electric-powered boats, which were more like laboratory boats, but nevertheless technically very interesting! Our goal is to successfully industrialize and commercialize solar-powered electric yachts to make them accessible to as many people as possible. To achieve this, Whisper Yachts' innovations include the aggregation of existing technologies in many cutting-edge fields, such as automotive batteries, and making them applicable to the maritime sector. We are the only company on the market to offer a 15m electric-powered catamaran, eco-responsible and autonomous, 100% marketable. »

Towards an ecological transition and a slow-cruising concept

The choice of catamaran clearly promotes the notion of ecological transition and slow cruising. The catamaran market is booming, with annual growth of nearly 14%. This dynamic is part of Whisper Yachts' ambition to position itself in a booming industry that aims to democratize solar-electric yachting. Moreover, the problem is also technical: 50-foot catamarans (15 meters) are the most suitable models for installing solar panels, and their lower water resistance reduces their energy requirements.

« Our yachts carry 40 square meters of solar panels that power the electric propulsion without causing vibrations or noise.explain Guy Marchal. In addition to propulsion, the extensive equipment and recycled materials on board also contribute to the goal of reducing the carbon impact of our yachts on the environment. We have also paid particular attention to weight, completely rethinking and redesigning the hulls of the catamarans, giving them a new design adapted to the new onboard technologies. Our goal is to reconcile luxury, eco-responsibility and, of course, sailing comfort, while maintaining performance and autonomy similar to thermal boats, and sailing at a pleasant and reasonable speed of around 10 knots. The concept of "slow-cruising" that we advocate and promote is also to better appreciate this marine environment that is so dear to our hearts. »

Ecological and economic objectives

The short- and medium-term objectives are clear... ecological and economic. The Cannes Yachting Festival is an opportunity for Whisper Yachts to achieve its short-term objectives by delivering its first yacht in early 2024. The company has set several objectives: on the commercial level, notably to conquer 10% of the market by 2027, but also on the ecological level, to offer yachts that are 90% recyclable by 2030.

Guy Marchal concludes: " We are very proud to promote innovation and French luxury around the world through meaningful projects. We position ourselves as a mission-driven company, actively participating in the transformation of this industry, which is becoming increasingly aware of the excesses and abuses of the past. More broadly, we wish to participate in and facilitate the transition of marinas with solar-electric yachts, which must behave like real power plants by reinjecting the electricity generated by the solar panels free of charge during periods of 10/11 months of non-use. Many development projects are still underway to develop 40-foot and 60-foot yachts, as well as new technological systems such as replacing generators with hydrogen fuel cells and dynamic positioning to avoid dropping anchor and damaging the seabed. ».

About Whisper Yachts

Whisper Yachts was founded in Nice in 2019 by Guy Marchal with the idea of combining the pleasure and comfort of navigation while responding to the environmental challenges of tomorrow and offering a unique luxury experience.

Whisper Yachts aims to support the yachting industry's transition toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions. In addition to offering a range of luxury green-powered catamarans, Whisper Yachts hopes to change humanity's relationship with the sea by providing sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions. Thanks to solar panels, the French-designed and Italian-built yachts will be able to provide continuous green energy to marina infrastructure once moored. Finally, the Research and Development department is constantly innovating, developing cutting-edge yachts while respecting the environment.
