The Place Hotel Madrid
A location in the heart of Madrid's heritage
Ideally located in the Neighborhood of the letters, The Palace stands in guardian of the past and witness of the present of Madrid. Just steps from the Prado and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums, as well as the sumptuous Retiro Park and Plaza Mayor, the hotel fits perfectly into the Landscape of Light, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Its exceptional location makes it a privileged sanctuary for lovers of history, art and culture.
"The Palace has been an emblem of Madrid for over a century," highlights Helen Leighton, Vice President, Luxury Brands, Europe, Middle East & Africa, Marriott International. "This renovation has allowed us to preserve the eclectic heritage of the place while injecting new energy through a reimagined design. We are confident that The Palace will appeal to both Madrilenians and travelers seeking unforgettable experiences."
An architectural masterpiece resurrected
The restoration of the facade orchestrated by Ruiz Larrea Architecture allowed to reveal the original splendor of the building, built in 1912. This meticulous rehabilitation has notably given new life to the famous "Palace color", a warm beige shade enhanced with terracotta nuances, enhancing floral ornaments and delicately sculpted garlands.
One of the most iconic elements of the hotel, its majestic stained glass and wrought iron dome, has also been restored with goldsmith precision. Designed in 1912 by Eduardo Ferrés i Puig and made by master glassmakers Maumejean, this masterpiece composed of 1 glass panels has regained its original vibrant colors thanks to the expertise of more than 100 specialized craftsmen. Under this historic dome now reigns the spectacular palm tree shaped glass chandelier, reinstalled in its original location to enhance the main atrium.
A sensory journey to the heart of Madrid
Signed by the famous Lázaro Rosa-Violán studio, the interior design of the famous hotel classic splendor revisited with a contemporary touch. Elegance and creative audacity pay homage to the illustrious guests who have stayed at the Palace: Pablo Picasso, Salvador Dalí, Mata Hari, Ernest Hemingway, Among others.
Every detail invites wonder: from wool rugs with dreamlike patterns to custom woodwork, passing through a collection of illusionist works of art that play with the viewer's perception. 470 rooms and suites bathe in exquisite natural light and offer a decor combining Spanish classicism with subtle modernity : hand-painted wallpapers inspired by the Retiro Park, mosaics evoking the Royal Botanic Garden, marble fireplaces, Mid-Century chandeliers and sumptuous fabrics give the spaces a refined residential atmosphere.
The style and elegance of the interiors are reflected in the staff uniforms, designed by the talented Spanish designer Juanjo Oliva, bringing a touch of refinement to the customer experience.
An exquisite gastronomic signature
the Dome, the vibrant heart of the hotel, is a Madrid's gastronomic meccaNestled under the glass dome and its wrought iron structure, this restaurant and cocktail bar seduces with its atmosphere that is both historical and contemporary. Signature dishes include the Picasso's Waldorf salad and Julio Camba's steak tartare, which brilliantly reinterpret the culinary heritage of the Palace.
