Lebua State Tower, Bangkok, at an altitude of 250 meters

By Ema Lynnx

In Bangkok, your gaze is naturally drawn to the sky. Skyscrapers rise one after another, creating one of the most spectacular skylines in Asia. Yet, there is one address that stands head and shoulders above the rest, not only for its height but also for the experience it offers. Located in the State Tower, overlooking the banks of the Chao Phraya River, the Lebua at State Tower invites you to discover Bangkok from a privileged point of view, where the city seems to stretch to infinity.

From the moment you arrive, the impression is striking. The elevators whisk you up to the upper floors, where all the hotel suites are located. Here, there are no standard rooms: each accommodation is a true suite, complete with a separate living room, a spacious private balcony, and panoramic views of the river and the Bangkok skyline. Within minutes, the feeling of spaciousness contrasts sharply with the bustle of the capital, as if the city were now being observed from a distance, in an almost unexpected calm.

This approach to luxury is at the heart of lebua's identity. More than a hotel, the establishment claims the iconic concept of "Vertical Destination": a place where one can stay, dine, celebrate and admire Bangkok without ever leaving the heights of the State Tower.

But if there is one reason that makes Lebua known throughout the world, it is its incredible rooftop.

At the top of the tower, The Dome brings together several of the most renowned gastronomic addresses of Thailand, as well as the famous Sky Bar, whose international renown has been boosted since 2011 with the film The Hangover Part IISeveral iconic scenes were filmed there, transforming the rooftop into one of the most photographed locations in Bangkok. To celebrate this filming, the bar's mixologists even created the Hangovertini, a cocktail that has become one of the establishment's signature drinks.

On the 64th floor, Sirocco offers Mediterranean cuisine served al fresco, accompanied by jazz and the lights of Bangkok. More intimate, Mezzaluna, awarded two Michelin stars, blends French cuisine with Japanese influences under the direction of chef Ryuki Kawasaki. Its semicircular dining room, floor-to-ceiling windows, and open kitchen transform dinner into a true spectacle. On the 61st floor, Chef's Table, also a two-Michelin-starred establishment, places diners face to face with chef Vincent Thierry and his impressive Molteni range. His contemporary French cuisine emphasizes simplicity, precision, and the natural flavors of exceptional ingredients. Breeze by Lebua completes this offering with a modern interpretation of Chinese gastronomy conceived by chef Sam Lee. Suspended above Bangkok, the restaurant reinterprets Asian culinary traditions through graphic presentations, premium ingredients, and sometimes unexpected combinations. Chef Sam Lee offers his creations à la carte or as a tasting menu, combining authentic Chinese flavors with subtle local influences drawn from his international background.

Breeze's airy architecture, luminous walkways and unobstructed views of the city further enhance the spectacular character of this restaurant, regularly cited among the most innovative in Asia.

As night falls, the bars extend the experience. The renowned Sky Bar, with its circular bar that changes colors, overlooks the skyline, while Distil distinguishes itself with its cocktails and rare cognacs. Alfresco 64, inspired by the world of yachting, is dedicated to whiskies, while lebua No. 3 combines gin, vodka, and caviar in a more festive atmosphere. The glamour of the Pink Bar and the Bollinger champagnes served at Flûte complete this gastronomic and nocturnal journey above Bangkok.

Despite the hustle and bustle, lebua maintains a surprisingly serene atmosphere. From her private balcony, the view changes every hour. At sunrise, the first boats glide along the river. During the day, Bangkok reveals the full extent of its architecture. Then, as night falls, the city gradually lights up, becoming a veritable sea of lights.

The hotel's location also provides easy access to several of the capital's iconic sites and temples. River shuttles offer access to the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, and the historic districts along the Chao Phraya River, while markets, shopping malls, and the vibrant Silom and Sathorn districts are just minutes away.

Staying at Lebua at State Tower is to discover Bangkok from a different perspective. Not at the pace of its traffic or constant bustle, but from a privileged vantage point where the city reveals itself in all its grandeur. Between panoramic suites, exceptional cuisine, and one of the most famous rooftop bars in the world, the hotel has established itself as one of the must-visit addresses in the Thai capital. Here, true luxury isn't just about the amenities; it's about contemplating Bangkok as few travelers ever have the opportunity.
