As we travel through Quebec, a stop at Mont Tremblant has become an obvious choice. Renowned for its postcard-perfect landscapes, this flagship destination Laurentides attracts both outdoor sports enthusiasts and travelers looking to recharge their batteries.
Summer and winter alike, the region vibrates with a gentle and invigorating energy, where nature reigns majestically. It is here, 130 km northwest of Montreal, that nestles theQuintessence Hotel, a confidential and refined address, discreetly located on the edge of Lake Tremblant.
Upon arrival, the tranquility of the setting is striking. Far from the bustle of the city, the estate extends over the shoreline, with elegant architecture in harmony with its natural surroundings. Opened in 2003, this five-star establishment houses only 30 suites, all facing the lake. A deliberate choice, designed to offer guests a feeling of serenity, light, and privacy, just steps from Tremblant's pedestrian center and the resort's lively scene.

A human-sized address, between valley and lake
The Quintessence Hotel cultivates the art of exclusivity, rest and comfort, where a classic North American style dominates; noble woods, natural stone, crackling fireplaces... the atmosphere is warm, cozy, conducive to disconnection. The Presidential Suite, which we had the privilege of occupying, offers volumes worthy of a private apartment: vast living room with fireplace, large bedroom bathed in light thanks to a bay window facing the lake, en-suite bathroom with bathtub and walk-in shower, and the cherry on the cake: a huge private terrace equipped with a whirlpool, a true observatory of sunrises or starry skies.
A name inspired by a fifth element
THEHotel takes its name from the ancient concept of "quintessence," derived from the medieval tradition of the five elements. After earth, water, air, and fire, the thinkers of the time had imagined a fifth, invisible principle: that of emotions, the soul, and perfumes., of what cannot be touched but is felt. An idea that the establishment claims as a discreet common thread, a rare, almost impalpable alchemy, which we perceive from the very first moments.
A table with local and French influences
On the catering side, the restaurant The quintessence, also open to external customers, is awarded the Wine Spectator Award since 2004, a guarantee of the excellence of its wine list. On the plate, refined cuisine, guided by the seasons, showcases local Quebec products enhanced by French inspiration. The evening of our arrival, we dine overlooking the lake transformed into a golden mirror by the sunset light. For starters, a delicate trout ceviche, enhanced with coconut, lime, red fruits and Lebanese cucumber. For main course, a perfectly cooked veal flank steak, accompanied by baby potatoes and crisp asparagus. And to finish on a sweet note: a dark chocolate moelleux, melting center and vanilla ice cream in perfect balance. At the bar, the list of local wines and spirits invites you to continue the evening by the fire, or on the terrace in fine weather.
Well-being by the water
The spa area, named Without Clogs, features a dry sauna, a steam room, a whirlpool, two treatment rooms, and a fitness area. Treatments are performed using high-end products from the German brand BABOR, renowned for its dermatological approach to cosmetics. The calm, wooded atmosphere lends itself to contemplative breaks, particularly thanks to the large bay window overlooking the lake.
Explore Mont-Tremblant and its surroundings
Mont-Tremblant isn't just about its ski slopes. In spring, nature reclaims its natural beauty and reveals a different side of the region. We stroll through the colorful little town, among painted houses and craft shops, before taking the Express Gondola. In just a few minutes, we reach the summit of Mont Tremblant, at 875 meters above sea level, but already very high for the region. Up there, the view is spectacular; a 360° view offers a different perspective on the lake, the forest, and the still-bare slopes waiting for winter to be draped in white.
An hour's drive from the hotel, Parc Oméga is the perfect addition to your getaway. A 12-km drive takes us through 900 hectares of forests, meadows, and lakes, encountering Canada's wildlife. Caribou, bison, moose, foxes, wolves, and bears cross our path in semi-wild conditions; some even approach our window, curious and peaceful. A magical moment, ideal for families or couples.

Some lifestyle laurentine
The Hôtel Quintessence embodies what Quebec does best: a warm welcome, an authentic setting, and the raw beauty of its surrounding nature. A place where every detail invites contemplation. Whether for a romantic weekend from Montreal or a high-end stopover during a road trip, this exceptional hotel keeps its promise: to live in the present moment, facing the lake, in the enveloping silence of the great outdoors.
