Nestled in the dunes, a stone's throw from Oléron beach, the 5* spa hotel Le Grand Large is a successful alliance between urban planning and environmental integration.
The architecture of the buildings is inspired by the style of Le Corbusier, the master and pioneer of modern concrete urbanism. However, this complex, with its sharp angles and white walls and large bay windows, creates an airy, bright impression. A modern cocoon that blends harmoniously into the midst of the ocean.
The hotel offers a panoramic view, beyond the dunes dotted with fuchsia-pink purslane, towards the endless ocean and a small shaded sandy path that invites you to take a romantic stroll on the beach, still deserted in May.
Natural modernism
Rated 5 stars since 2023, Le Grand Large is part of the Le Boutique Hotels Collection group, recognized worldwide for the excellence of its establishments and services. Its creator and owner, Christophe San José, is passionate about properties with prestigious character, located in exceptional and intimate locations.
Thus, the Le Grand Large hotel has only 31 rooms, including a panoramic suite with a huge terrace. It is equipped with a two-person jacuzzi, like the junior suites.
The suites and prestige rooms offer breathtaking views of the dunes and ocean. Each features a king-size bed, a walk-in shower opening onto the bedroom, a contemporary-style desk and living room, and large bay windows.
Relaxation and refinement
The establishment features a spa area including a heated indoor pool for year-round swimming, a large jacuzzi, a sauna, and a steam room. Large sofas are arranged around the pool for relaxing, just like in a solarium. Customized massages in the room or at the spa are available upon request.
In the evening, to better admire the orange-pink sunsets, you can sit on a nautical-style chair on the rooftop, at the champagne bar. You can try the local cocktail, a Spritz des dunes with Oléron immortelle, while enjoying Gillardeau oysters or Petrossian caviar…
Gastronomic table
End your evening at the gourmet table of Grand Large, a restaurant very popular with locals too.
The menu, a tribute to Oléron, the fishing island, was created by chef David Boyer, winner of the Un des Meilleurs Ouvriers de France competition in 2023. Its execution was entrusted to the young chef Marina Mikheeva, who interprets the MOF chef's recipes every day with mastery and perfect mastery of local products.
Chef Marina has worked under the direction of famous Michelin-starred chefs and in the kitchens of major hotels such as Jérôme Schilling, Pierre Gagnaire, the Four Seasons… A chef with a cosmopolitan background, who loves the complexity of French cuisine, Asian flavors, seafood and goat cheese log. A fan of Placebo, U2 and Cate Blanchett, she also enjoys running and gardening. Through her cuisine and her tastes, she embodies a dynamic and modern chef, ready to take on any challenge (and not just culinary).
The result of this chef's menu is rich in color and flavor. The dishes, with their subtle and balanced flavors, are elegantly presented with an artistic and floral touch. This land and sea menu, where vegetables also take center stage, is varied enough to satisfy even the most discerning palates:
Green asparagus with Iranian black lemon;
Roscoff onion with truffle caviar;
Line-caught pollock with morels, yellow wine and white asparagus ponzu;
Marinated beef cooked on Japanese barbecue Potato calisson, shiitake and whisky sauce.

When it comes to dessert, don't miss the "Quintessence of Strawberry 2.0", where the strawberry reveals itself to your taste buds in different forms and textures, with softness and sweetness.
An intimate haven of relaxation with modern comfort, the Le Grand Large hotel is an invitation to contemplation and disconnection, to enjoy the sea air in complete relaxation.
