A LOUIS XIII Cognac carafe specially for His Majesty King Charles III

The Louis XIII Cognac House, a symbol of French expertise and excellence, presented a specially engraved decanter to His Majesty King Charles III on the occasion of his state visit to France, which took place from Wednesday, September 20 to Friday, September 22, 2023.

Historical and cultural links have long been established between the House of LOUIS XIII and the Court of England.

In 1938, LOUIS XIII Cognac reached a historic milestone when it was served at a royal banquet in honor of King George VI and the future Queen Elizabeth in the Hall of Mirrors at the Palace of Versailles. Then in 1957, when Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip made their first official visit to France, they were also received with the highest honors at the Palace of Versailles.

In tribute to the coronation of His Majesty King Charles III, the House of LOUIS XIII wished to celebrate his first state visit to France by dedicating to him an exclusive carafe engraved especially for the event.

"LOUIS XIII is honored to once again contribute to the influence of France and its excellent expertise, at this historic moment between France and the British Crown at the Château de Versailles," said Anne-Laure Pressat, Executive Director of Maison LOUIS XIII Cognac.

LOUIS XIII invites everyone to take part in an infinite journey through time, celebrating these visionary minds who seize the present and create the future.

About LOUIS XIII Cognac

Since 1874, LOUIS XIII Cognac has passed down its expertise from generation to generation, eternally reborn from the precious eaux-de-vie of Grande Champagne Cognac. Time is the House's raw material, with which it crafts a rare Cognac, faithful to its immutable soul.

Each LOUIS XIII Cognac decanter is a work of art, inspired by a historic flask dating back to 1569, found on the battlefield of Jarnac. LOUIS XIII Cognac is best enjoyed in small sips, revealing an explosion of floral, fruity, woody, and spicy notes. It offers an incomparable length on the palate, exceeding all expectations.

Under the direction of cellar master Baptiste Loiseau, LOUIS XIII symbolizes the enduring bond between nature and terroir, enhanced by centuries of patina. Each drop perpetuates a living legacy, and each carafe celebrates visionary spirits, the people working today for tomorrow. To be ahead of the century.

About King Charles III

Charles III is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. He was born on November 14, 1948, at Buckingham Palace in London. He became king on September 8, 2022, following the death of his mother, who had reigned since 1952. He and his wife were crowned king on May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey in a lavish and solemn ceremony. He is the oldest monarch to accede to the British throne, at the age of 73. He is also the Head of the Commonwealth, an organization of 56 independent states, and the Supreme Governor of the Church of England. He married Lady Diana Spencer in 1981, with whom he had two sons, William and Harry. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1996, after a series of media scandals. Diana died in a car accident in Paris in 1997. In 2005, Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles, his childhood sweetheart, for the second time, who holds the title of Queen Consort. Charles is known for his commitment to the environment, culture, and youth. He has founded several foundations and charities, such as The Prince's Trust and The Prince's Foundation. He has also repeatedly expressed his opinions on political and social issues, which has earned him criticism for his lack of neutrality. About the Hall of Mirrors

The Hall of Mirrors is one of the most famous rooms in the Palace of Versailles, built between 1678 and 1684 by the architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart. It is adorned with 357 mirrors that reflect the light and splendor of the French garden. The Hall of Mirrors was designed to illustrate the power and glory of King Louis XIV, who received ambassadors and distinguished guests there. The gallery's decoration, created by the painter Charles Le Brun, traces the main victories and reforms of the Sun King's reign through thirty allegorical compositions. The Hall of Mirrors has also been the scene of major historical events, such as the signing of the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, which ended the First World War. Today, the Hall of Mirrors is a must-see for visitors to the palace, who can admire its exceptional architecture and decor.
