The bicycle manufacturer Trek enriches its collection Project One CHROMA with eight new vibrant shades: Mirror, Gold, Ivy, Pink, Root Beer, Ruby, Sapphire and Violet.
Initially reserved for the brand's professional riders' bikes, the CHROMA finish quickly established itself as one of the most coveted in the Project One customization program.

Inspired by the iconic metallic colors of the 1980s and 1990s, this paint stands out for its unique shine. Unlike older chrome plating processes, Project One artists spent nearly five years developing a modern, more environmentally friendly method. One of the biggest challenges was adapting this glossy finish to carbon fiber frames while maintaining impeccable adhesion and durability.
After extensive testing, CHROMA was unveiled to the public at the 2021 Tour de France, immediately capturing the attention of the cycling world. Now, with the addition of these eight new colors, custom bike enthusiasts have even more options to design a unique model that reflects their image, with the most sought-after paint in the Project One range.
The American brand Trek is today one of the world leaders in cycling, renowned for its technological innovations, its commitment to elite sport, and the diversity of its product ranges. Its history and flagship products have helped to energize the world of cycling.
A story born in a barn
Trek Bicycle Corporation was founded in 1976 by Richard “Dick” Burke and Bevil Hogg in a barn in Waterloo, Wisconsin. The initial goal was simple: to manufacture high-quality steel bicycle frames to compete with the dominant European brands of the time. In its first year, Trek produced approximately 900 hand-welded frames, each selling for less than $200.
From carbon steel: a technological revolution
In the 1980s, Trek expanded its line by introducing aluminum frames, then carbon fiber. In 1992, the company introduced OCLV (Optimum Compaction, Low Void) technology, which made it possible to produce ultralight and strong carbon frames, even exceeding aerospace standards. This innovation marked a turning point in the bicycle industry.
