Rudy Gobert, professional basketball player and NBA star

Rudy Gobert, born June 26, 1992 in Saint-Quentin in Aisne, is a player of professional basketball whose reputation is international. A pillar of the French team with which he is silver medal to the last Olympic Games, his exceptional play near the basket propelled him to the rank of champion at the NBA All Star, making him one of the best players in the world.

 

Rudy Gobert was 11 years old when he became interested in basketball. He quickly demonstrated quite promising skills for the sport. His impressive height and exceptional defensive skills earned him the nicknames " Gobzilla " He was in fact voted best defender of the NBA, thus marking the history of his sport.


Rudy joined the Amiens youth center at a very young age. He continued at the Cholet training center where he then took his first steps as a professional. His exceptional defensive presence and his rebounding game caused a sensation among NBA scouts. In 2013, he was selected as the 27th pick in the first round of the NBA draft. He joined the Utah Jazz team, where he spent 9 wonderful years. Within the Utah Jazz, Rudy quickly emerged as a dominant center in the league. His ability to influence his opponents' play and protect the rim made him one of the key elements of his team. He won the Defensive Player of the Year and NBA All Star, in recognition of its impact on the field.

Preparation for the Olympic Games

The Paris Olympics are fast approaching. Although he sees his childhood dream coming true, Rudy believes it's important to stay focused on his goals and preparation. This will involve many aspects: physical, mental, and technical; he leaves nothing to chance. Rudy will first have to prepare his individual strengths to put them to use as a team. Finally, when it comes to the French regroups, teamwork will prevail.

Post-career

Talking about his post-career, Rudy shares several of his projects, which he is already preparing step by step. His strong interest in entrepreneurship and charitable activities already punctuates part of his daily life. Several years ago, he notably launched the Rudy's Kids Foundation which works worldwide to ensure education, health and leisure resources for all.
