A major renovation has been carried out within the Surfrider Hotel Malibu. The setting has been completely redesigned to transform it into a new hotspot for California surfers. With its unique decor and a complete evocation of Californian culture, this hotel on the Pacific coast now has everything you need for a top-notch stay in peace, tranquility, and relaxation.
A quality renovation with a trio of renowned experts at the helm
The major renovations to this dilapidated California motel were led by a trio of renowned professionals, including the former architect of the Spring Studio In New York, Matthew Goodwin, professional globetrotter Emma Goodwin, and Alessandro Zampedri, director of Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. Without erasing the history of this exceptional beachfront location, these professionals have made the necessary improvements to refresh the setting and give it a new lease of life. The Surfrider has just opened its doors in Malibu to welcome its Californian guests to a new, impeccably designed space. A place that will delight all surf lovers on the Pacific coast.
Modernity and a sleek style have been introduced to The Surfrider. Experts have redesigned the hotel's interiors to create a warmer, more welcoming atmosphere. They focused on very bright spaces and opted for a similar color and material palette throughout the Californian motel. Indeed, touches of beige with wicker and rattan complement the dominant white surface, and to add a warm feel to the interiors, pale and light wood is omnipresent throughout the hotel.
Simplicity, harmony and Californian style
18 rooms and 2 suites furnished in the same style are now ready to welcome Californian guests. A rooftop bar and a restaurant are also at your disposal. Simplicity, minimalist and refined decor where harmony and a Californian atmosphere reign await you! A timeless classic, white dominates this hotel because not only does it evoke the Californian style itself, but it also helps create a sense of space and volume by letting natural light penetrate all the rooms.
Natural, durable materials were favored during this large-scale renovation of the Surfrider Hotel. Reclaimed wood floors give the rooms soul, custom-made teak beds, stone, ceramic tiles, textured rugs, and wicker lampshades add a warm touch. The decor has been refined with exceptional artwork and greenery.
The Surfrider, renovation respecting the hotel's history
Matthew Goodwin and his wife were keen to preserve the Surfrider's history during the renovations. Built in 1953, this former motel was one of the key locations in the famous film. The Endless Summer in 1966.
"The Surfrider is part of the Malibu landscape and it's at the heart of its culture. It's a part of Californian history."
Moreover, over the years, the hotel has hosted many famous musicians of the time such as The Doors, Fleetwood Mac and Neil Young.
Today, The Surfrider is resurfacing in a new, much more stylish and welcoming way with its fresh design and cocooning feel, without leaving its history in the past!
