Studio Fritsch+Durisotti, innovations on multiple boats

Since the creation of Studio Fritsch+Durisotti, the trio of Antoine Fritsch, Thierry Coste, and Vivien Durisotti has consistently placed functionality and users at the center of their research. Ergonomics, innovation, and unforgettable experiences are the key words here. The studio invites you to set sail aboard a variety of boats.

The studio, which particularly enjoys challenges, doesn't hesitate to take on challenges, particularly by modernizing our modes of transportation, whether land or sea. A brief overview of the projects dedicated to water sports that have been the subject of in-depth research by the studio. A spotlight on these extraordinary revolutions.

Iguana Yachts and the amphibious… the all-terrain

A new type of all-terrain boat—an amphibious boat—has appeared on the maritime scene. Studio Fritsch+Durisotti has imagined a way to navigate the water and land on dry land without ever setting foot in the water!

The creative trio came up with multiple solutions to address this challenge and also enabled Iguana Yachts to patent this unique concept that does not require port infrastructure to reach the water.

To design this "marine flying carpet," the team initially focused on building a boat with wheels. However, they soon encountered the drawbacks of this installation: the wheels didn't allow them to land on all terrains. Their use is limited to soft ground such as sand or muddy earth.

As with airplanes, the studio then imagined a landing gear equipped with rubber tracks that fold up on the sides of the ship. An ingenious idea that gives the boat the ability to maintain stability on land and sea, to have the capacity to carry heavy loads on slopes with an inclination of up to 40%, and this landing gear allows for smooth navigation even in the roughest waters.

Yakka kayaks for Tahe, innovation in water sports

The Fritsh+Durisotti studio decided to tackle kayaks, those recreational water sports canoes. As with all their projects, the trio focused on user-friendliness and innovation. Their partnership with Tahe (formerly Bic Sport) is a prime example.

The Yakka kayak range is the first semi-rigid folding kayak that meets the expectations of users looking for premium glide without the bulky drawbacks of rigid kayaks.

The Yakka concept innovatively solves this problem by combining an inflatable and rigid structure that folds into two parts. The two patented hulls are independent and connected by a central beam. A wheel located at the rear makes it easy to move the boat, whether folded or unfolded.

Comfort, ergonomics, glide, and stability have been carefully studied to offer the user great pleasure of use. The Yakka kayak is equipped with three hollow bodies, two of which are rigid, offering unparalleled safety of use on the market. This range offers the advantages of the rigidity of a kayak with the advantages of an inflatable in terms of size.

The studio also designed hulls for another of the brand's series, combining good glide, ergonomics, and stability. This innovation has been recognized by the design community and has received several awards from the Design Observer.

For Itiwit, it is by developing cutting-edge expertise in the field of inflatable structures and by constantly seeking innovation that this best-selling series was born and distinguished itself in its market.

Class 2M, elegance and innovation

The Class 2M is, up close, a true keelboat, a sailboat that combines performance and elegance. The minimalism of its clean lines makes it a timeless boat. Designed to sail on protected waters, this boat is aimed at passionate racers and those who enjoy cruising along the water!

A spacious cockpit and excellent sailing qualities make this day boat ideal for solo or family outings. Its modern hull with slim water intakes, combined with a wide, powerful sail, will suit performance enthusiasts.

The 2M class features a lifting keel, a true innovation for this type of keelboat, which allows for easy launching and transport (thus facilitating regattas between clubs). The mast is also simple and premeditated.

Twincat15, performance and environment

2win, a manufacturer of dinghies and sports catamarans, has entrusted the design and architecture of the Twincat 15 to Studio Fritsch-Durisotti.

The catamaran is made of Twintex®, a recyclable, rigid, extremely durable and environmentally friendly composite material, and is aimed at the sailing school and holiday resort markets in France and abroad.

When it was launched, the Twincat15 was considered by professionals as a major innovation in the field of light sailing.
