Beosound Emerge, the slim and powerful home speaker by Bang & Olufsen

Beosound Emerge is a slim home speaker designed by Benjamin Hubert of design agency Layer to deliver rich, powerful sound that adapts to any space.

Inspired by a love of music, design and craftsmanship, Beosound Emerge strikes the perfect balance between the elegant aesthetics of a designer object and the technical performance of a durable speaker.

« Our vision for Beosound Emerge was to design the thinnest speaker capable of delivering ultra-wideband and full-spectrum sound, all thanks to a revolutionary new driver configuration in a compact form factor. Beosound Emerge can be placed on a shelf in a bedroom or tucked into a kitchen corner, with its slim design it can extend your listening into a new room, or pair with another speaker in the same space for a minimal footprint. ", says Christoffer Poulsen, Senior Vice President and Head of Product Management at Bang & Olufsen.

Incomparable finesse, astonishing power

Designed in collaboration with Benjamin Hubert of experience design agency Layer, the Beosound Emerge is a versatile speaker inspired by the compact shape of a half-open book. Its slim, sculptural design makes it the perfect speaker to place anywhere in a room, whether tucked into a hidden corner or proudly displayed on a piece of furniture.

Beosound Emerge aims to extend listening time with minimal bulk, using its resemblance to design objects to blend with books and decorative elements. The side panels wrap around the speaker like a book cover, while the front of the speaker is adorned with the Bang & Olufsen logo, like the author's name appearing on the spine of the book.

Beosound Emerge is crafted from sensual, warm materials inspired by the interior world, featuring an oak casing that embraces the Kvadrat textile-covered edge. The gold-plated, microblasted, and anodized aluminum base evokes luxury, while the speaker's sleek profile makes it an aesthetically pleasing object from every angle.

« Our studio strives to create lasting partnerships with the brands we work with. Beosound Emerge was born from our second collaboration with Bang & Olufsen. This ultra-thin speaker is designed to take up as little space as possible while optimizing audio performance, in response to soaring residential property prices. At Layer, we firmly believe that technology should contribute to well-being, but not necessarily be the subject of its own expression. That's why, for us, imagining a new architectural form with a truly sculptural sensibility and the use of materials traditionally more associated with our interiors seemed important. The result is a design that stands out in a saturated audio equipment market and can adapt perfectly to any interior. " explains Benjamin Hubert, founder of Layer.

The Beosound Emerge user interface is intuitively integrated into the top of the device. The buttons are activated with a simple touch of a finger, allowing users to pause music playback, change tracks, and easily access pre-programmed radio stations or playlists. The volume control itself offers a unique experience, requiring a circular movement of the finger to increase or decrease the volume, with a tactile and sensitive interaction.

Ultra-wideband and full spectrum sound

Bang & Olufsen's ambition to create a home speaker inspired by decorative design resulted in a unique driver configuration, resulting in an ultra-slim device that covers the entire acoustic spectrum. To achieve this level of sound quality, the designers worked closely with Bang & Olufsen's sound engineers.

In keeping with the sophistication of Beosound Emerge's design, the 37 mm midrange driver is angled, and like the 14 mm soft dome tweeter, is positioned at the front of the speaker. The 100 mm woofer is angled further back with sufficient sound dispersion to fill a room. Low-frequency performance is further optimized thanks to Active Room Compensation, which adapts the sound profile to the speaker's position in space, ensuring a perfect listening experience in any room.

Designed to last

Bang & Olufsen's commitment to sustainable design across all its products is also reflected in Beosound Emerge. The speaker's modular design allows for the connection modules to be replaced, a first for Beosound Level.

The installed modules are configured with powerful enough processors and advanced connectivity technologies to allow for performance upgrades and the installation of new features over time. If the device becomes obsolete in terms of connectivity or streaming, the module can simply be replaced to incorporate the latest technological advancements for a future-proof speaker.

Extended listening experience

Beosound Emerge is fully compatible with the Bang & Olufsen Connected Speakers setup, allowing users to create a network of speakers throughout their home. Beosound Emerge can be placed in a small room and will surround it with powerful yet precise sound. It can also be added to the network of speakers already installed in a space; it will be the ideal companion to Beoplay A9 or Beosound.

For a much more immersive and impressive listening experience, two Beosound Emerge speakers can be connected via a WiFi stereo setup developed by Bang & Olufsen. Beosound Emerge has a small footprint to create a true stereo experience at home on a desk or in any other medium-sized room.

Multi-room functionality, voice control

Compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and Chromecast, Beosound Emerge also features a built-in radio and microphone with voice control. A Bang & Olufsen-patented Beolink connection is also available. Finally, Google Assistant lets you listen to music or read the news hands-free.
