At the heart of the Chinese national ski team, Eugene Cornu Wong At just 15 years old, he emerged as a remarkable skier on the snowy slopes. Originally from Hong Kong, a city better known for its skyscrapers than its ski slopes, Eugène had to work harder to make a name for himself at the international level.
Birth of a skier
Eugene Cornu Wong started this sport at the age of 3, when he lived with his family 1 hour from the ski resorts.
Since his introduction to winter sports during family weekends, Eugène quickly developed a passion for powder snow. He gradually progressed through the levels of French ski schools, before developing a taste for his first competitions. He discovered his ability to challenge himself on new slopes and the intense emotions they gave him. Benefiting from the best French structures, he developed his technique and his reading of the slopes within the sports studies of St Etienne de Thinée and the Nice interclub. Then, following the slopes of his older sister Chloé Cornu Wong, Eugène discovered the rigor and beauty of high-level sport. He thus joined the Hong Kong national ski team, for which he proudly represented the colors on the international circuit.

Physical preparation
Eugène tells us about two typical days a year: one off-season (spring-early summer) and one in-season. During peak season, he starts his day early enough to take advantage of the best skiing conditions. He's off for a session of about four hours. After lunch, he'll either be in physical training or reading his books. During the off-season, he'll focus primarily on varied physical training (cardio and muscle strengthening), as well as his studies.
2026 Winter Olympics
There's no competition without prior work. The secret, he believes, lies in the regular preparation he's already putting in. Motivation and hard work are the key to preparing for a competition as important as the 2026 Winter Olympics.
His passions
Before finishing this fascinating interview, we asked him what his greatest passions are.
He told us that after skiing, his greatest passion is cooking. He devotes a little time to it every day as part of a dietary routine he's established to give himself all the resources he needs to maintain his athletic rhythm. He might even consider it a second career path after the one on the slopes.
