The Academy Tourbillon Georges Favre-Jacot model, a vibrant expression of Zenith's manufacturing expertise, reveals its mechanics in complete transparency. Its black ceramic case houses a new El Primero movement equipped with a tourbillon and a fusee-and-chain mechanism. These two horological complications, specialties of the brand with the star, are united for the first time in a high-frequency movement bearing the Zenith logo. With no dial, the hand-wound El Primero caliber 4805 offers a perfect view of its masterful mechanisms and powerful architecture. A true technical and aesthetic feat, the fruit of extensive research and design, offering a unique view of the movement's architecture.
Zenith's manufacturing expertise and forward-looking spirit have been part of the brand's DNA for over 150 years. Georges Favre-Jacot, Zenith's founding genius, instilled its pioneering spirit, creating one of the first industrial watchmaking factories in 1865. This technical expertise, fueled by audacity, now gives life to the Academy Tourbillon Georges Favre-Jacot. Fine watchmaking and modernity unite in this remarkable fusee-and-chain tourbillon, equipped with the new high-frequency El Primero 4805 caliber, entirely developed and manufactured by Zenith. While its famous name and sustained cadence – 36 vibrations/hour – refer to the legendary chronograph designed by Zenith in 000, this unique engine features a majestic tourbillon coupled with a fusee-chain regulation mechanism connected to the barrel, for constant force.
A concentrate of watchmaking technology, this hand-wound movement incorporating 807 components is revealed in modern and architectural lines. Without a dial and housed in an imposing 45 mm diameter black ceramic case, the Academy Tourbillon Georges Favre-Jacot highlights its tourbillon positioned at 6 o'clock and its fusee-and-chain transmission at 10:30 and 1:30. Attached to the baseplate by polished screws, three blackened bridges support the axes of the fusee and the barrel, as well as the tourbillon cage, which rotates once per minute. The central hour and minute functions are displayed on a ring punctuated by black luminescent hands and faceted indexes. The power reserve totaling more than 50 hours is indicated at 4:30 by a red-tipped hand and accompanied by the inscription "High" and "Low". Visible on the display side and through the sapphire case back, the plate and bridges are a deep anthracite shade, alternating between sandblasted, chamfered and drawn lines.
Water-resistant to 50 meters, the Georges Favre-Jacot Academy Tourbillon watch is equipped with a perforated rubber strap with a triple folding clasp in PVD-treated titanium and is produced in an edition of 150 pieces. A rose gold version is also available, produced in an edition of 150 pieces.
