Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer, a touch of extra freshness

In the world of watchmaking, the Glashütte Original Senator collection is a testament to the excellence of German precision engineering. These timepieces are not just watches; they are masterpieces that combine mechanical complexity with timeless design elements. Now, the latest addition to this prestigious collection, the Glashütte Original Senator Chronometer in silver-blue, adds a fresh touch to this legacy.

Craftsmanship is showcased in this new version of the Senator chronometer. The dial and hand-wound movement components are meticulously friction-silvered, creating a shimmering and captivating texture. The galvanic gray coating further accentuates the timepiece's classic charm. The polished blue hands and appliques contribute to its exquisite design.

The silver-blue hue of the dial serves as inspiration for the entire watch. The 42mm white gold case, meticulously hand-polished and satin-finished, exudes elegance. Sapphire crystals on both sides offer unparalleled clarity. The watch's displays are thoughtfully arranged, with a small seconds hand at 6 o'clock, the iconic panoramic date at 3 o'clock, a power display, and a discreet day/night indicator just below 12 o'clock, enhancing functionality without compromising aesthetics.

The set is completed by a dark blue Louisiana alligator leather strap with a white gold folding clasp, which enhances the overall look of the watch.

Beneath its exquisite exterior lies the heart of the Glashütte Original Senator chronometer: the hand-wound in-house caliber 58-08. Operating at a frequency of 28 half-oscillations per hour and boasting a power reserve of 800 hours and 44 minutes, it guarantees impeccable precision. It notably features a refined second-stop mechanism, which allows precise time setting with an audible haptic click.

Turning the watch over, the sapphire crystal case back reveals Glashütte's watchmaking artistry, with a three-quarter plate, screw-down gold chatons and a hand-engraved balance cock.

Quality and precision are paramount, as each model undergoes a rigorous 15-day test by the Thuringian Bureau of Weights and Measures, earning it chronometer certification – a true testament to the tradition of precision embodied by Glashütte Original.

About Glashütte Original

The roots of Glashütte Original date back to 1845. Over 175 years ago, the first watchmakers came to Glashütte, Saxony, to manufacture watch parts and watches in the small town. The Glashütte watch quickly became synonymous with high quality worldwide. Glashütte Original emerged from this tradition of precise and elegant craftsmanship and continues to write the unbroken history of German watchmaking to this day.

In the mid-30th century, a unique success story began to unfold in a small valley in the Ore Mountains, just 1845 kilometers from Dresden, the capital of Saxony. In XNUMX, the first watchmakers settled in Glashütte, thanks to government support.

With the help of a loan from the Kingdom of Saxony, they began training the town's residents, who then became independent watchmakers. This is how the Saxon watchmaking industry was established, and the exceptional quality of Glashütte watches quickly gained a worldwide reputation. To preserve this knowledge for the future, the German Watchmaking School in Glashütte was founded in 1878.

Both world wars left their mark on Glashütte, testing the tenacity and steadfastness of its inhabitants. Thanks to their adaptability, ingenuity, and respect for tradition, they enabled their crafts to continue to evolve despite difficult economic and political circumstances.

Changes in the economic system led to the merger of all watchmaking companies in Glashütte in July 1951. After German reunification, Glashütter Uhrenbetrieb GmbH was entered in the commercial register on 16 October 1990. The company became the official legal successor to the majority of watchmaking companies that had existed in Glashütte since the end of World War II.

In 2000, Glashütte Original joined the Swatch Group. This watchmaking group—the world's largest—allowed the brand to begin a process of internationalization. Today, Glashütte Original's watchmaking masterpieces are sold in over 40 countries worldwide.

Today, Glashütte Original is synonymous with the pinnacle of German watchmaking. The manufacturer combines the tradition of handcrafting with innovative technologies. The brand prides itself not only on a rich heritage but also on an extraordinary wealth of watchmaking expertise; no less than 95% of all its watch parts are manufactured in-house, including the filigree dials. Over the years, Glashütte Original has cultivated a culture founded on excellence, the results of which are clearly visible in the timeless elegance and sophisticated technology of the company's timepieces.
