Jaquet Droz presents The Bird Repeater Geneva

Exceptional animations, poetry of Nature: with this exceptional automaton watch, Jaquet Droz celebrates Geneva where Pierre Jaquet-Droz opened his 1784rd in 3rd workshop.

For this new edition, Jaquet Droz has brought together all the talents of its Ateliers d'Art to orchestrate an additional celebration, that of Geneva where Pierre Jaquet-Droz opened the city's first watchmaking factory in 1784, thereby introducing the production of highly complicated watches.

The encounter between Nature and the City forms the backdrop for The Bird Repeater Geneva, bringing together all the symbols of the Swiss city on the white mother-of-pearl dial. Engravers, painters, and enamelers have thus succeeded in reproducing, in miniature format, Lake Geneva, its famous water jet and the Pâquis Lighthouse, as well as the silhouette of the Salève, the mountain in the Prealps considered the city's "balcony."

At the center of the dial, a pair of Elegant Goldfinches have nested in the heart of Rousseau Island, a bird paradise located right at the entrance to the lake. These creatures, with plumage as colorful as a Fauvist painting, hand-carved in gold, are accompanied by their two young, and gathered around an egg located at the heart of the nest. The meticulous details, the vivid colors, the attention paid to both the eyes and each twig of straw, are a testament to the illustrative talent of the artisans of La Chaux-de-Fonds.

As always at Jaquet Droz, beauty goes hand in hand with mechanical genius. As with previous editions, the Bird Repeater Geneva features eight animations as tiny as they are spectacular—birds feeding their chicks, wings unfurling, water trickling, egg hatching—a true homage to the famous android automatons created in the 8th century by Pierre Jaquet-Droz and his son.

This animated tableau contrasts with the very simple Hours Minutes dial, off-center at twelve o'clock, and made from a black onyx disc on which two slender red gold hands move, recalling the light of the case, also in red gold, 47 millimeters in diameter. Equipped with the Jaquet Droz RMA88 self-winding movement and featuring a 48-hour power reserve, the Bird Repeater Geneva is produced in a limited edition of eight. A symbolic number in the Jaquet Droz universe, whose connoisseurs will not fail to grasp the full meaning and magic.
