The Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 is adorned with a midnight blue dial and reinvents watchmaking excellence: a unique encounter between minute repeater and flying tourbillon in an ultra-thin automatic calibre.
Iconic watch of Jaeger-LeCoultre, the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362, also known as the Master Ultra Thin Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon, was unveiled in 2014. This exceptional timepiece combines a minute repeater and a flying tourbillon in an ultra-thin automatic caliber. Calibre 362 is composed of 471 parts and measures only 4,8 mm thick. This men's watch was produced in only 75 pieces.
Ten years after the launch of the first Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362, Jaeger-LeCoultre unveils a new edition of this watchmaking icon. Limited to just five pieces, this version is distinguished by its elegant midnight blue sunray dial and 750/1000 white gold case, combining aesthetics and technical prowess.
Recognized worldwide for its innovative engineering and refined design, the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 is a testament to the watchmaking mastery of the great watchmaker. At its launch, it was among the thinnest minute repeater and tourbillon wristwatches ever produced.
Even today, at just 7,8 mm thick, it remains the thinnest minute repeater in the collection. This feat is all the more remarkable given that it incorporates a grand complication automatic caliber composed of 566 parts, distributed over a height of just 4,7 mm.
Sound harmony and watchmaking precision
Since 1870, Jaeger-LeCoultre has designed more than 200 minute repeater movements, ranging from simple constructions to complex mechanisms such as Grandes Sonneries and Westminster chimes. This sonic expertise is combined with a relentless quest for precision, a fundamental value of the manufacture since its creation in 1833. Precision is manifested on two levels:
– Production precision, which allows miniaturization and the creation of extra-flat calibers.
– Chronometric precision, achieved through continuous innovations in adjustable functional elements, notably hairsprings and tourbillons.
A technological masterpiece with refined aesthetics
Eight patents protect the design of the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362, including six specifically filed for this exceptional timepiece.
To achieve record thickness, Jaeger-LeCoultre redefined the architecture of the regulating organ, introducing a flying tourbillon equipped with a flying balance. The patented “S”-shaped hairspring, positioned above the balance, is visible through the sapphire crystal caseback, offering a fascinating view.
The choice of the flying tourbillon, without bridge or cage, highlights the beauty of the oscillations, while contributing to the finesse of the caliber. For its winding, an innovative peripheral rotor in 950/1000 platinum has been integrated, optimizing space without compromising efficiency.
On the sound side, the crystal gongs and trebuchet hammers, attached directly to the glass, create an exceptional resonance. In addition, a silence reduction system softens the traditional pauses between the hours and minutes, enriching the listening experience.
A watchmaking work at the height of innovation
With a diameter of 41 mm and a thickness of 7,8 mm, the case of the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 recalls the emblematic creations of Jaeger-LeCoultre from the beginning of the 1907th century, like the Couteau pocket watch from XNUMX. Entirely hand-polished, the white gold offers optimal acoustics while highlighting the midnight blue sunray dial.
The minute repeater's control system is distinguished by its subtlety: an unlocking button at 8 o'clock and a retractable pusher at 10 o'clock improve both ease of use and water resistance to 3 bars, a rarity for this type of complication.
Inheriting nearly two centuries of expertise and eight exclusive patents, the Master Hybris Mechanica Calibre 362 embodies Jaeger-LeCoultre's commitment to pushing the boundaries of watchmaking. With this new interpretation, the art of Haute Horlogerie reaches a new peak, harmoniously combining technical sophistication, aesthetics, and audacity. Every detail of this limited edition underlines the Grande Maison's dedication to excellence and the mechanical dream.
