Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura, an exceptional whisky combining Scotland and Japan

Glenfiddich, known for its pioneering spirit since its founding in 1887, is launching the latest addition to its Grand Series collection in a limited edition: the Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura. His know-how, his audacity and his innovative thirst, passed down from generation to generation, have given birth over the years to extraordinary whiskies that have shaken up the codes of this sector. With Grand Yozakura, Glenfiddich reaffirms its luxury positioning and its particular experimental taste by celebrating the meeting of two unique regions, Scotland and Japan.

Bold creation in limited edition

Glenfiddich draws inspiration for its new creation from the heart of Japan. Glenfiddich's Master Blender, Brian Kinsman, has designed a unique crafting process: the single malt whisky is aged for 29 years in American and European oak casks, then finished for six months in casks previously containing Awamori, Japan's oldest distilled liquor. This rare spirit has notes of dried fruit and sweet spices reminiscent of whisky. The resulting exceptional single malt whisky combines the distinctive flavors of Scotland and Japan to create a unique combination.

« Glenfiddich whisky has been aged for a long time in oak casks, giving it a very rich and intense taste. Finishing in Awamori casks takes the flavor to a whole new level, highlighting the mouthfeel and herbal notes, creating a different whisky unlike any other in the series. " said Brian Kinsman.

The result of this union is a remarkable single malt whisky that combines strength, smoothness, and refinement. Made from only 25 Awamori casks, this is the first limited edition in the Grand Series Collection.

« This creation is unlike any other, highlighting the creativity and expertise of our cellar masters. Great Yozakura is the most perfect and disruptive synthesis of two universes that seem opposed on paper: wild Scotland and refined Japan ", underlines Maxime Caderon, Ambassador of the brand in France.

Tasting notes

On the nose Aromas of ripe fruit and spiced caramelized almonds. Beautiful, rich oak notes with hints of cinnamon and herbs.

In mouth Flavors of toasted oak, creamy vanilla caramel, and silky tannins. Bursts of spice and icy lemon, intertwined with notes of crisp green apple.

The final long and woody.

creation for contemplation

Great Yozakura evokes this very special period of the season of Hanami, celebrating the ephemeral beauty of cherry blossoms, which signifies renewal and optimism. Japanese people gather at dusk to admire the flowers illuminated by traditional lanterns.

The bottle's triangular shape is a reminder of the three pillars of Scotch whisky: barley, water, and air. Its cap, meanwhile, is a celebration of Japanese culture: custom-made, embossed with the "hanko" seal, and covered with a fabric emblazoned with a poem. haikuThe bottle is presented in a beautiful midnight blue box decorated with cherry blossoms. The interior illustrations are by the Japanese illustrator June.

June creates imaginative representations that integrate Japanese culture and landscape. She has worked on various projects such as covers for fiction and Japanese history books. In 2018, she won the Grand Prix du 10e Adachi Contemporary Ukiyo-e Award. In 2019, she was selected for Gallery House MAYA's Book Cover Illustration Contest Vol. 19. Her work was also selected for the 7e Tokyo Book Cover Illustration Contest 2021.

Glenfiddich Grand Yozakura is available in luxury whisky specialist stores and high-end venues from March 28, 2023 at an average recommended retail price of 1 euros1.

1 – The suggested retail price indicates the price a consumer is willing to pay for a particular product. It is derived from the House’s expertise and know-how in consumer behavior. It is purely informative and does not call into question the freedom of retailers to determine consumer prices. 2 – Since 2000, the Glenfiddich range has won the most awards, more than any other brand of Single Malt Scotch Whisky, in two of the world’s most prestigious competitions (IWSC and ISC).
