Champagne Edouard Brun or Cognac Grande Champagne Deau, or why not both?

The end of the year means celebrations, and the celebrations mean euphoria! This state of joy and pleasure reached during family gatherings or among friends, these moments of convivial sharing of a meal enhanced by a very good champagne and ending with an excellent alcohol. Our current selection focuses on the great vintage of Champagne Edouard Brun Vintage 2012 and the Cognac Grande Champagne Deau Millésime 1969.

Vintage 2012, the great Edouard Brun vintage… the art of balance

Since the brand's creation in 1898, Edouard Brun's philosophy has been to think of champagne as a wine, not a drink. This approach translates into great table champagnes like the Blanc-de-Noirs Grand Cru Extra-Brut 100% Pinot Noir Edouard Brun and many other vintages. To celebrate its entry into the 2020-2030 decade, it's only natural that the "Couture" Champagne house release one of the finest vintages of the past decade... 2012.

What would a special year be without an exceptional terroir? In this vintage, the king of Champagne grape varieties, Pinot Noir, is majestic. It expresses the vintages of Aÿ, Ludes, and Hautvillers. As for the Chardonnay, it comes from the characteristic terroirs of Avize, Chigny-les-Roses, and Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. These terroirs exude a beautiful radiance, and a patina of soil that is both elegant and charming.

A great wine is always the fruit of a story. Connecting the encounter between extraordinary terroir and human expertise, without forgetting the long-term work. Because producing a quality wine requires a lasting relationship with time. A necessary step to achieve precision. This way, the wine will be able to last for years.

Bottled in March 2013, this remarkable vintage was kept on slats until December 2021. Disgorged in January 202, this champagne is magnificent! At a dose of 6 gr/L, this Brut, bordering on Extra-Brut, accurately reveals a massive balance and beautiful energy... like a secret.

Its golden yellow color reveals bubbles and a delicate bead. Its beautifully refined nose is an ode to ocean spray and the scents of the moor. In its buttery flavor, juicy white fruits and vibrant Mirabelle plums meet with nuances of toast and pastry. Its palate is that of a great champagne. Its airy texture and great finesse are carried by a tantalizing sigh of chalk and a finish that never leaves us.

It naturally inspires a taste of fine, gourmet cuisine. Perfect for accompanying seafood delicacies and enhancing white meats with its smooth finishing touch, it's recommended with Bresse chicken with yellow wine and morels, or with flambéed langoustine on the plancha.

If the House's specialty is to offer terroir-based Couture Champagnes, this new vintage Champagne Edouard Brun 2012 perpetuates this tradition and is part of the House's heritage since 1898.

DEAU Cognac Vintage 1969… Cognac Grande Champagne

Vintage Cognac refers to Cognac where the eaux-de-vie come from a single vintage, an extremely rare practice as Cognac is characterized by being produced by blending several vintages from different years to obtain its unique identity. Since 1989, the BNIC (Bureau National Interprofessionnel du Cognac) has authorized the sale of very rare aged cognacs, subject to proof of their exact age. Each barrel must be sealed and recorded. At each operation, they must be opened and closed in the presence of a sworn representative, thus guaranteeing their authenticity.

The rare and prestigious DEAU COGNAC Cognacs have aged for several generations in Limousin oak barrels rigorously selected for the finesse of their grain, in cellars where the humidity and freshness provided by the Charente River allow for gradual maturation and give a beautiful roundness and great finesse.

All DEAU COGNAC vintages are "cask strength," with no additives to interfere with their maturation, and in order to respect these priceless treasures. Unrefrigerated, slight natural deposits may occur, which will in no way affect the quality of the products.

All these treasures are therefore "limited editions." Vintage cognacs are very rare because they are available in very small quantities.

Tasting characteristics

Magnificent under its old gold robe, it knows how to make itself desired like any seducer. It opens with sweet fruity notes of cashmere, accompanied by sensual notes of peaches, white and yellow nectarines, evolving into a burst of sunshine of orange peel. Then come the exotic fruits, notably soursop and mango.

The symphony continues with more subtle notes of fragrant flowers such as English rose, white lilac, and jasmine. The finish declares a paragon of elegance with the sophistication of a cigar humidor, the tender sensuality of white honey, and the exoticism of vanilla. This smooth and full-bodied single vintage Cognac represents the Rolls-Royce of Cognacs, to the delight of tasters.
