Champagne Edouard Brun launches its new Grand Champagne, l'Elégante

The Edouard Brun Champagne House is renowned for its vintages designed to be high-end wines, and among them The Elegant One, a delicious Grand Cru.

Moreover, it is an astonishing duo who guides it towards the best… Philippe and Emmanuel Delescot. Over the years, their House has continued to gain in precision. Emmanuel manages and represents the House, while his brother Philippe takes care of the wines with enormous talent. This cellar master owns the entire manufacturing process to create great Champagne wines. A real boon for this era when Champagne is thought of more as a beverage. The brand's philosophy is clear: to produce premium Champagne cuvées, called "Couture," limited exclusively to Premiers Crus and Grands Crus.

Edouard Brun the Elegant or refinement become art

Born in 1875, Monsieur Edouard Brun founded his own Champagne house in the heart of the Belle Époque. It was a glorious period when Haute Couture houses knew how to dress women around the world in incredibly modern garments. The pinnacle was worn by great fashion figures such as Paul Poiret, Jacques Worth, and Jeanne Paquin, precursors to Patou, Chanel, and Lanvin, who came much later.

As for Champagne, with two exceptions, there were still no Grandes Cuvées. Thus was born the cuvée The Elegant One, a festive Grand Cru Champagne, very airy and of great finesse. It is the cuvée of the elegant women of the Belle Époque, a pre-war period which was the height of Haute Couture and the rise of Champagne which flowed freely. In 2023, the Élégante cuvée has had a makeover and is wearing a new outfit for the holidays. First of all, the gold color highlights the precious character of the Champagne and its beautiful golden robe. Then, a deep blue, pays homage to the Grands Crus Chardonnay (80%) and Pinot Noir d'Aÿ terroirs, vinified in 205-liter oak barrels. Philippe Delescot, cellar master of Maison Edouard Brun, interprets this Grande Cuvée white and rosé Champagne in a totally atypical vision. Just imagine a non-vintage Grand Cru Champagne, full of emotion and high quality. This approach reflects his desire to always go further. Both in terms of quality and maximum consistency. Furthermore, it ensures that the character of this great wine retains its own identity.

Champagne Grand Cru The Elegant One, the great vintage to celebrate life

This Grand Cru is composed of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir with a dosage of 7g per liter and aging for four years.

Alcoholic and malolactic fermentation takes place in barrels for Pinot Noirs and in temperature-controlled vats for Chardonnays.

In tasting notes, we can say that its nose is surprising, possessing a great delicacy with wonderful aromas triggered by flowers, white fruits and fresh zest, enhanced by vanilla, with a very gourmet pastry character on a hint of chalk. On the palate, the bubbles are fine, with an airy and creamy depth. Its aromas of mixed white and stone fruits have a beautiful chalky tension in filigree that does not fail to make our mouths water. A Grand Champagne that pairs well with delicate dishes such as French caviar, fine fish in sauce, or even foie gras on toast.

The recommended retail price is 45 euros. We find the Champagne Grand Cru The Elegant at all good wine merchants and on the Champagne Edouard Brun online store www.boutique.champagne-edouard-brun.fr

About Chardonnay

The Chardonnay grape is one of the most widely used grape varieties for producing quality white wines. It originates from Burgundy, where it produces prestigious grands crus such as Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, and Chablis. Chardonnay is characterized by its ability to adapt to different terroirs and climates, as well as different winemaking methods. It can thus express a wide variety of aromas and flavors, ranging from floral, fruity, and mineral notes to woody, buttery, and brioche-like notes. Chardonnay also offers beautiful structure and good acidity, which give it great aging potential. Chardonnay is therefore a noble and versatile grape variety that can produce exceptional, elegant, and complex white wines.

About Pinot Noir

The Pinot Noir grape is one of the oldest and noblest grape varieties in the world. It produces great red wines, elegant and complex, which delicately express the terroir from which they come. Pinot Noir has several qualities that make it an exceptional grape variety: It has a thin and delicate skin, which gives it a light ruby color and silky tannins. This skin is also very sensitive to climatic variations, diseases and parasites, which makes Pinot Noir difficult to cultivate and vinify, but allows it to reveal the nuances of its environment; It has low vigor and low productivity, which forces winegrowers to limit yields and practice careful and respectful viticulture. Pinot Noir requires a lot of care and attention, but it rewards the efforts with the quality of its fruit; It has a great capacity to adapt to different types of soil, whether limestone, clay, granite or volcanic. Pinot Noir thus expresses the diversity of the terroirs where it is planted, producing wines with varied aromas, ranging from red fruits to spices, including flowers, undergrowth or leather; It has a strong personality and remarkable aging potential. Pinot Noir produces wines that evolve over time, developing complex and subtle notes, which make the richness and depth of the great vintages. Pinot Noir is a grape variety that does not leave you indifferent, it seduces with its elegance, finesse and complexity.
