The World's 50 Best Bars Awards website recently unveiled its 2018 rankings. London's Dandelyan has won the prestigious award for World's Best Cocktail Bar. This title was awarded just days after its bartender announced the bar's closure and planned renovation. According to the bartender, the bar will become a larger and "weirder" space. The world's best mixologists gathered in London on October 3rd to determine this year's best bars. And apparently, London is shining bright in this ranking, with four bars making the top 10. The Dandelyan at the Mondrian Hotel is at the top.
The British capital at its best
As usual, the British capital dominates the ranking of the 10 best bars in the world. Last year, the American Bar at the Savoy Hotel led the way, followed by the Dandelyan at the Mondrian London. But this time, the rankings have reversed, and the title of best bar in the world has been awarded to Dandelyan with the American Bar in second place. Both are chic and pleasantly decorated bars, offering magnificent views of London. And they stand out for the near-perfect mixology they serve their customers.
But if we refer to the top 20 of the ranking, London is also present in 17th and 18th position with Oriole and Coupette.
The Dandelyan, an unmissable address
It's worth noting that Dandelyan opened only four years ago. But the bar quickly established itself and built a reputation, becoming a must-visit spot in the British capital. Cocktail lovers can't go past it without sipping a good cocktail. The bar owes its popularity to its star mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana, but also to its interior design by Tom Dixon. Always striving to satisfy his customers, the bartender seems eager to renovate the place. Indeed, he officially announced on Instagram his plans to close the bar for a makeover. He plans to offer a new concept that should appeal even more to regular customers. It could also once again be featured in the 50 Best Bars ranking.
France with 3 bars in the ranking
While London dominates the ranking, Parisian cocktail bars also took three places. Just like last year, with Le Syndicat in 24th position, then the Little Red Door in 33th position and finally, the Candelaria in 42th position. The Syndicate gained 10 places compared to last year's ranking, while the Little Red Door fell 22 places and the Candelaria 23 places.
Top 10 Best Bars According to World's 50 Best Bars 2018
First place went to Dandelyan in London, followed by American Bar, also from the British capital. The Manhattan at Regent Singapore came in third, a first for Singapore, which rounded out the podium.
New York's The NoMad is ranked fourth, followed by London's Connaught Bar and London's Bar Termini. Athens' The Clumsies follows in seventh place, followed by Singapore's Atlas. New York's Dante comes in ninth, and Hong Kong's The Old Man comes in tenth. This is a huge improvement for Hong Kong.
Efforts and progress were also noted in Buenos Aires. In fact, the city has, for the first time, entered the top 20 of the ranking. The Floreria Atlantico is positioned at 14th.th instead.
Let's wait and see if this change at London's Dandelyan will allow it to retain its place in the World's 50 Best Bar ranking next year!
