The 2016 Paris Motor Show

The 2016 Paris Motor Show

The Paris Motor Show is currently taking place at Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles, until October 16, 2016.

The show attracted just over a million visitors at its previous edition and while we may have regretted the absence of certain legendary brands such as Lamborghini and Bugatti this year, the 2016 Paris Motor Show is still packed, quite the contrary!
The 2016 edition is indeed focusing on the introduction of numerous new French and international models, including the highly anticipated Maybach Vision 6 concept. Its motto: to make people dream!

So on the program: pure wonders… and some nice surprises.

Starting with a first at the show: the Mondial de l'Automobile offers a large area entirely dedicated to competition: the Motorsport Zone by Mobil1 FFSA (French Motorsport Federation) is aimed at fans of motorsport in all categories: Rally, off-road rally, circuit, off-road circuit, hill climb, drifting and even karting.

The show also features motorcycles, with Ducati (Audi), BMW, Honda, Peugeot and Suzuki offering their two-wheeled models on their own stands; as well as Kawasaki, KTM, Peugeot Scooters, Triumph and Yamaha, which are located in front of Pavilion 1.

We also find a beautiful exhibition of classic cars as well as the big sale of the prestigious Coys house which managed to bring together 100 breathtaking classic vehicles. (Exceptional auction Saturday October 8 at 14:30 p.m. in Pavilion 3).

For the second time in a row, discover the Electric and Hybrid Vehicle Testing Center. In 2014, this space attracted a large number of visitors, including more than 10,000 lucky visitors who were able to test eco-friendly vehicles. This year, in addition to hybrid and electric cars, we can also test Natural Gas Vehicle models (departing from Pavilion 3, heading for a tour of Paris).

Another attraction not to be missed this year: the theme "Motor! The Automobile Makes its Cinema"

A special exhibition of more than 45 exceptional vehicles, supported by Aston Martin (Pavilion 8). This event invites you to relive all the greatest cinematic scenes of the most iconic cars. Such as, to name but a few, the 2 CITROËN 007CV 1980 in For Your Eyes Only by John Glen; the 2CV of Mélina Havelock (Carole Bouquet) used by James Bond (Roger Moore) to lose the murderers of the young woman's parents and recover the ATAC missile launch system; the 1976/2014 CHEVROLET Camaro SS in Transformers, 2014 or the 12 ASTON-MARTIN DBS V2008 in Quantum of Solace in 2008

A show that is not lacking in imagination, spice, new features and entertainment to satisfy the curiosity of everyone, whether a fan of beautiful cars or just an occasional visitor...
On the car side, here is our 2016 luxury selection.

Porsche 2

We'll start with Porsche, where we discovered the Panamera version 2, which, thanks to the in-house designers, reminds us much more of a four-door 911 than the old Panamera - what more could you dream of? We'll focus on the e-Hybrid version, meaning plug-in + hybrid, a refinement that will be appreciated by lovers of beautiful cars who care about the environment!

Still at Porsche, the presentation of the new Boxster 718 caught the public's attention: this small convertible is simply a dream! We find the lines that have made the Boxster legendary since its first launch in 1993, but also significantly increased performance in both acceleration and top speed.
On the Ferrari side, we couldn't miss the "Laferrari Aperta", Ferrari's "supercar" with nearly 1000 horsepower... This marvel of the automotive industry was launched in a limited edition of 200 units. Its price of 2 million euros didn't deter the lucky few selected because the 200 units have already been sold!

A nice surprise also awaited us at the Maserati stand, which presented the world premiere of the new Quattroporte sedan, which has received a remarkable facelift. This sports sedan has become one of the fastest thanks to Maserati engineers who managed to achieve 560 hp with the new V8 Biturbo engine.

Maserati didn't stop there when it came to surprises with the launch of its first SUV, the Maserati Levante. Like Porsche before it with its Cayenne, Maserati has decided to focus on the large SUV segment to expand its offering and boost sales. We can't blame it. The Levante presents a strong character, thanks in particular to a twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine, a power output of 430 horsepower at 5 rpm and 750 horsepower at 275 rpm. Not to mention an elegant "fastback" line and a very aerodynamic body...

Finally, we will leave you with the big sensation of this 2016 Paris Motor Show, which came from the prestigious Mercedes brand, which unveiled its magnificent Maybach Vision 6 concept. The Mercedes concept was highly anticipated during its very first public appearance this summer at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California.
It caused just as much ink to flow at the Paris Motor Show! This is a long (5,70m) and luxurious 2+2 coupé. Its lines pay homage to the "aero-coupés" of the 1930s, the ultimate in elegance and prestige.
Beyond its delightfully retro lines, the concept car amazes with its futuristic technology. The Maybach Vision 6 is entirely electric, boasting 750 horsepower (100 km/h in 4 seconds), and a range of 500 km!
The model clearly displays its avant-garde intention: it can not only drive itself autonomously, but also its windshield can display augmented reality, can detect who its occupants are and display their vital functions or adapt the air conditioning according to the outside temperature and what its passengers are wearing... and the ultimate refinement: we can harmonize the color of the interior according to our outfit... Enough to conquer the hearts of collectors of beautiful cars... as much as fashionistas.
