A vibrant and promising event that thrilled 150 festival-goers La Rochelle ! The festival took place from July 11th to 15th, five days during which several bands took turns presenting spectacular concerts in 14 venues across the city. Workshops, conferences, exhibitions, and concerts delighted the public during this highly sought-after festival. But this 2018 edition also stood out because the last day of the event coincided with the French national football team's match for the World Cup final in Russia, against Croatia. After this superb match, the festival naturally celebrated this brilliant victory of the Blues as it should be. A crazy and very lively atmosphere!
Festival-worthy concerts
This festival showcased the latest trends in the French music scene, with notable celebrities performing their best hits alongside young talents who quickly found success. An exceptional opening act featured the voices of Chris and Stephen Stills, Alain Souchon, Vianney, Tryo, Jeanne Cherhal, and Patrick Bruel.
The famous NTM group then set the stage ablaze before giving way to Orelsan, Bigflo & Oli, Calogero, Shaka Ponk, and Jeanne Jain, who also transported the audience to a crazy atmosphere. The excitement and atmosphere were also present when Roméo Elvis, Eddy de Pretto, Loïc Nottet, and Therapie Taxi crossed the stage.
The French team's victory in the World Cup final marked the closing day of this festival. Festival-goers had the opportunity to gather in front of the giant screens to watch the match. France's World Cup title was therefore a surprise that festival-goers were not expecting. The cherry on the cake to complete and close the festival in style. Jane Birkin began a Marseillaise that the audience sang with joy. It was a wonderful way to unite sport and music and to celebrate this championship title as it should be! For this closing, we were also able to see Juliette Armanet, Brigitte, and the most famous French rapper of all, none other than Mc Solaar, who made his big comeback after two years of silence.
In the warm and friendly setting of the Grand Théâtre de la Coursive, concerts by Charlotte Gainsbourg, Pierre Lapointe, Clara Luciani, Julien Clerc and Nolwenn Leroy delighted the audience.
Exchanges and wonderful encounters
Young and old alike were able to rejoice and find their happiness this year thanks to Francos Junior. The house The Francofolies dedicated four exceptional shows to them, including one by Albebert. Some wonderful encounters and exchanges took place during this 2018 festival. Five artistic practice workshops for choirs, writing, and beatboxing were available to the public.
The Francos Stories honored five artists from the French-speaking scene and three prizes were awarded to the young singing scene. Notably,the Félix Leclerc prize which rewarded Foé, the Andrée Chedid prize for Joséphine Chloé and finally the partners club's favorite with Catastrophe.
Finally, to offer a satisfying experience to the public during the festival, the decoration and layout were meticulously taken care of and 7 restaurateurs were able to showcase the artists' favorite dish.
