LEE FIELDS: concert at Krakatoa

LEE FIELDS celebrates its 50th anniversary career in 2019 with a superb album released in April and a major international tour. When we meet the man in an interview, he is immediately endearing and a palpable sincerity emanates from his words, as from his lyrics. Associated for ten years with "The Expressions", the American will delight the 700 people present at Krakatoa this evening.

An energetic concert

The constant of the concert will remain the energy released by the one who could be the father of most of the spectators present! After a first part rhythm'n'blues of the friendly ALEXIS EVANS, "Little James Brown" (nickname of LEE) will transform the floor of the Mérignacaise hall into a groovy dance-room for 1h25. In introduction, the 6 members begin an instrumental ("Saturn") to warm up the audience and announce the arrival of the soul-man in grand style! Shiny suit and crocodile cowboy boots, LEE surprises and largely compensates for his small size with an extraordinary voice! On the first 6 songs, he will immediately set the bar high enough so that the level of the show never falls! "Love Prisoner" is a blatant example of the possibilities of the artist while inviting the audience to share his passion. Nevertheless, we must not neglect the musicians who surround the showman! Even if joy does not transpire from their respective faces, Trumpet, Saxophone, Synth, Bass, Guitar and Drums bring the musical atmosphere that we loved last year at ELECTRO DELUXE in the same place.

Lee Fields

LEE FIELDS performs several beautiful recent tracks like "Blessed With The Best", "It Rains Love" (full of good vibes) and "You're What's Needed" where the singer virtually swaps his microphone for a crucifix and preaches the good word by advising love and unity. The guitar riffs and synth pads add a solemn side that we will find again on "Ladies", 2009 track and true ode to women. LEE FIELDS loves his wife, loves people and invites sharing. He delivers a huge message of peace with "Make The World" from the 2016 album "Special Night" - one of the highlights of the evening. Just before the encore, ELMER (his first name) treats the audience to his hit "Faithful Man" which resonates like the great JAMES BROWN, absolute master of the genre to whom he is often compared. Having passed away (in 2006) when LEE began his new collaboration with the current band, he now has a free hand and would be wrong to deprive himself of it.

The Expressions replay an instrumental ("All I Need") to better bring back the hero of the evening without a jacket but in a tank top to leave the audience with a sad song, "Honey Dove." A love story in which the author waits for his interlocutor to call him back... like a crooner hopes the audience will be there next time. Sweating, LEE FIELDS leaves the room to meet the fans at the merchandising and take a well-deserved walkabout. He can rest assured, soul fans will return. A feel-good evening!
