Limited to 499 pieces, the fountain pen and rollerball pen are following The Opera Godfather Musical Watch, combining the world of ultra-high-end watchmaking with the stunning romance and sophistication of a mechanical musical – a vibrant homage to The Godfather as a masterpiece of the 7e Jacob & Co.'s art and loyalty to excellence.

The pen collection, a tribute to the film The Godfather, is a new open chapter bringing together the inspiration of Francis Ford Coppola's film and the Jacob & Co. brand. The collection includes a red celluloid pen with an 18-carat rose gold nib and a black ballpoint pen. Both are arranged in a dedicated black case with a red leather cover, gold hinges and all-around prints.
The body, cap, pin, and holster pay homage to The Godfather icons – a rose, a bullet, a revolver barrel, and the iconic puppeteer poster.

Their celluloid bodies feature rose gold-plated silver trim, a plaque bearing The Godfather logo, and puppeteer strings from the original book cover, which would later be used for the film poster. The famous red rose also appears, with red enamel petals serving as a cap clip. The end of the pen, called the lower finial, takes the form of a bullet. The other six are inserted into the barrel of the revolver, serving as the upper finial, the top cap.

This part also features a unique mechanism called the bullet chamber. This unique system pushes one bullet tip after another from the revolver's cylinder (i.e., the cap). Silver and gold are again used to shape these symbolic components and enhancements.
Manufacturing of objects in a collection
In 2019, Jacob & Co. entered into an agreement with Paramount Pictures to acquire the rights to use and deploy “The Godfather” franchise in its own collections. The first result of this inspiring partnership was theOpera Godfather, a highly complicated musical watch with a striking design, which plays the theme from The Godfather on an integrated musical box developing a rotating movement with a three-axis tourbillon.

Several interpretations have been created subsequently, including theOpera Godfather Minute Repeater and several limited editions with numerous diamond and baguette diamond settings. The collection of pens that pays homage to The Godfather is a new proposition imbued with the rich graphic and symbolic inspirations of the film The Godfather.
Making a film
While the ongoing TV series The offer offers a unique insight into the writing, production, filming, and casting of The Godfather, and reminds us of the enormous adversity the film and its crew faced, particularly from the Italian Mafia in New York.

However, Mario Puzo's original best-selling novel has become one of the most critically acclaimed and highest-grossing films of all time. The Godfather Pen Collection is a tribute to the images, symbols, and authors Mario Puzo and Francis Ford Coppola laid the foundation for the making of this story. The only lesson to be learned is that the pen is mightier than the sword, or bullets and intimidation.
Pen making
Made in Italy, the pen collection, which pays homage to the film The Godfather, benefits from the expertise and experience of high-end pen manufacturer Montegrappa. The company was founded in 1912 and is headquartered in Bassano del Grappa, at the foot of the Venetian Alps.

Montegrappa has worked tirelessly since its inception to create the most elegant, comfortable, refined, and balanced writing instruments. The brand counts among its collaborators the finest and most skilled craftsmen in the pen-making industry. Jacob & Co. draws on their renowned expertise to create this line of legendary and highly collectible pens.
About Jacob & Co.
Founded in 1986, Jacob & Cie is a privately held jewelry and watch retailer founded by diamond designer Jacob Arabo. Its flagship store and headquarters are located in Manhattan, New York City.
After graduating from a jewelry design course in New York City in 1981, Jacob Arabo opened a small studio in New York's Diamond District and began designing for private clients and jewelry brands. The watches were inspired by the jet-setting lifestyle of Arabo's customers, becoming a distinctive fashion statement while still maintaining great practicality for those who travel.
