There are countries that leave a lasting impression on the senses. South Korea is one of them: dazzling with modernity, yet softened by a constant kindness, that discreet refinement that transforms every encounter into a gesture of elegance. Between inherited rituals and futuristic audacity, it stands out today as one of the most fascinating territories of contemporary luxury.
South Korea, the rise of perfume: between heritage and olfactory revolution
Korea has long been known as the “empire of skincare.” Skincare is as much a culture as it is a practice: a daily discipline passed down from generation to generation, magnified by scientific research. It is this expertise that has conquered the world, giving K-beauty its global aura.
Le perfume, on the other hand, once occupied a discreet place. In a society where harmony was paramount, distinguishing oneself with a strong scent was almost an inappropriate audacity. Letting a scent float too strongly was tantamount to crossing someone else's private bubble. Elegance, then, required restraint.
But the pandemic changed everything. A new generation has asserted its uniqueness: where their elders favored homogeneity, young Koreans seek personal expression. Perfume has become a territory of experimentation, like fashion, music, or art. Since 2021, Seoul has seen the emergence of a thriving ecosystem: young local fashion houses, olfactory concept stores, and the arrival of international brands.
Today, perfume is no longer perceived as an intrusion but as an intimate language. It has become a signature, an affirmation of identity. This cultural shift reflects the vitality of a society where creativity is gradually taking precedence over conformity. Korea, long silent on the subject of scents, is now offering a fragrant voice that resonates far beyond its borders.

K-Perfume comes to Paris: birth of a collective
It is in this context that was born Korea Perfume Paris, the first collective to highlight emerging talents in Korean perfumery.
At the beginning: a meeting. Sarah Kyu-Young Pae, Perfume Tailor and representative of the GIP international cooperation in Asia-Pacific, who designs perfume as a hand-sewn story. And Romeo Oh, founder ofOHTOP, a Franco-Korean house where boldness meets elegance. Together, they decided to give voice to this new generation of designers.
Eleven independent companies are brought together, all rooted in Korea, each with a distinct identity: between revisited traditions, assertive modernity, and experimental boldness. Through them, a diverse Korea is expressed: faithful to its roots yet forward-looking, inventive, and plural.
Their first Parisian meeting, Korea Perfume Paris, has naturally found a home in the heart of the world capital of perfume. Here, each house unveils its olfactory language. Far from any uniformity, the collective embraces plurality and experience. Already ambitious, the initiative is preparing a second edition in 2026, before expanding its horizons to other capitals.

Houses, portraits of a creative generation
Barrio, portable joy
Portable formats, playful spirit and light bouquets: Area thinks of perfume as an everyday accessory, to be chosen according to your mood. Here, fragrance isn't just a signature; it becomes a tool for personal comfort and an emotional connection. The brand enjoys combining scents and styles of the day, makeup, or a passing mood. Its creations oscillate between crystalline flowers, iodized marine accords, and luminous fruits. Driven by success on TikTok and RED, Barrio embodies a spontaneous, fluid, and joyful generation.
BienBiang, the bridge of cultures
Founded by a Korean designer raised in Hainan and trained in Grasse, BienBiang blends Korean identity with Chinese influences. Inspired by the tropical island and its ancient heritage, its fragrances revisit agarwood, pandan, magnolia, and mountain rice. Each creation reflects the cultural heritage of the Li people, their UNESCO-listed traditions, while embracing a bold modernity. With BienBiang, perfume becomes a bridge between China, Korea, and France, celebrating craftsmanship, transmission, and travel.
BLNDRGRPHY, the art of the olfactory cocktail
Hyun Yeu imagines perfume as a sensory mixology. Each creation pays homage to an iconic cocktail: Jasmine Martini, Patchouli Mojito, Vanilla Mudslide, Amber Negroni…The scents are constructed like a dialogue between gin, rum, coffee or leather, playing on contrasts between freshness and intensity. More than a fragrance, each bottle is a living, festive, immersive scene, a sensory snapshot that mixes smells, images, sounds and memories.
COATING, colors of oneself
With the slogan “My Perfume, My Self”, COATING offers an intimate reading of identity. Each fragrance corresponds to an inner color: green for freshness, red for boldness, blue for mystery, yellow for softness. Here, the perfume does not mask but reveals, it accompanies the person in their emotions and rhythms of life. Carried by the vision of Marianne Nawrocki, the house combines French rigor and Korean poetry to compose perfumes that become intimate mirrors.
MIMICRI, the moment before the work
Under the leadership of the visionary Daniel KIM, MIMICRI is inspired by art and the suspended moment that precedes creation. Its fragrances evoke the graphite of a pencil, the dust of a studio, paper hanji or even a broken ceramic. Each fragrance is conceived as an olfactory installation: fragments of matter, bursts of memory, the poetry of a suspended gesture. Daniel KIM shakes up traditional perfumery, revisits essences and abolishes the boundaries between visual arts and olfaction. A true pioneer, he embodies a new way of writing Korean perfumery, more artistic, more radical, more universal.
The Persona, the mask that reveals
Inspired by ancient masks, the house creates fragrances that accompany and reveal. Mysterious rose, meditative wood, luminous citrus, or amber vanilla: each scent acts as a chosen role, an invisible mask that reveals a nuance of the self. The latest creations are inspired by the masked ball, with sensual and theatrical compositions. The house has entrusted its visual identity to Calicot Paris, reinforcing the contemporary elegance of its universe.
ODT.®, assumed oddity
Born from the word oddity, the house celebrates singularity. Its compositions are olfactory portraits: pure freshness, intense red fruits, enveloping amber orientals. Minimalist bottles, assertive trails: ODT.® claims the freedom to be oneself, outside of conventions. It is a house that speaks to a generation in search of inclusion and free expression, transforming perfume into a personal manifesto.
OHTOP, the invisible garment
Created by Romeo Oh, OHTOP explores the connection between fashion and perfume. Its creations are conceived as an olfactory wardrobe, to be worn like an invisible garment. Childhood memories, nursery rhymes, leather accords, or airy ouds: each fragrance is a statement piece. Conceived as a fashion collection, the olfactory line embodies the encounter between Paris and Seoul, between intimate memory and contemporary aesthetics.
ORGAN TALE, sublime memory
Founded by Shim Ilhwa, ORGAN TALE transforms memories into refined compositions. Each fragrance is an intimate story that becomes universal: luminous citrus that evokes a vital impulse, a gourmand floral that recalls the playfulness of childhood, a musky woody note that captures the momentum of festive nights. The house embodies the art of transmitting and sublimating the ephemeral, collaborating with great perfumers to compose sensitive and lasting olfactory symphonies.
Pesade, balance and elevation
Born in 2022, Pesade designs its collections like literary chapters. Its creations balance the concrete and the abstract, love and respect, reality and fantasy. Roses and musks, black teas and rum, saffron and amber: each fragrance seeks inner harmony. More than a fragrance, a meditation in a bottle, a quest for balance. Pesade translates the desire to transform every moment of life into an extraordinary experience.
A scene, a market, a moment
The Korean beauty market is booming: estimated at 10,87 billion in 2024, it should reach 19,29 billion in 2034. The boundaries between beauty and health are blurring, and perfume is finding its place in this movement, becoming a lifestyle.
At the center of this dynamic, Daniel KIM appears as an emblematic figure. With MIMICRI, he shows that olfaction can dialogue with the visual arts, shift codes and inspire beyond borders. He embodies the role of a bridge-builder: between generations, disciplines and cultures.
Outlook & opportunities in the French market
Si Korea Perfume Paris celebrates creativity and boldness, it is also part of a concrete dynamic: that of an establishment in Europe, and more particularly in France. Several houses of the collective have already begun to shine in other European markets, notably in Italy, a country sensitive to beauty and refinement. But none is yet truly established in France, world capital of perfumery and an essential place of international recognition.
All these Korean brands are looking for today investors, distributors and partners to reach this decisive milestone. The ambition is clear: to establish itself in the French market, attract a demanding and curious clientele, and place its creations in an olfactory landscape that embraces diversity and innovation.
Korean perfume isn't arriving as a timid outsider: it's stepping forward with a powerful proposition, fueled by dual expertise, the rigor of care and the poetry of olfactory expression. Supported by international collaborations and already recognized with prestigious awards in Asia, these houses are now committed to building strong bridges with France.
For industry players, this is a rare opportunity: to partner with an emerging scene with immense potential, at the crossroads of luxury, culture and innovation.
The rhythm of the Morning Calm
South Korea is called the Land of the Morning CalmAt dawn, Seoul slowly awakens: the Han River reflects the light, the hills take shape, the air seems suspended. It is not a frozen silence, but a measured breathing, a balance between serenity and movement.
This rhythm shapes thelifestyle Korean: the patience of a tea being served, the regularity of a gesture of care, the coexistence of the old and the new. Even in the heart of the megalopolis, this discreet tempo remains perceptible.
Korean perfume is born from this breath. Initially captured like a morning mist, it now asserts itself with nuance. Where the West sometimes seeks explosion, Korea favors precision: a floral calligraphy, a woody touch, a marine note. Each house composes an intimate melody, both gentle and unique.
Korea Perfume Paris translates this rhythm: Area with his olfactory haikus of everyday life; BienBiangwith its transposed tropical landscapes; BLNDRGRPHY with its festive nights; COATING with its interior colors; MIMICRI with its suspended moments; OHTOP with its fragrant silhouettes. A symphony of nuances that embraces the breath of the calm morning.
South Korea, an invitation to olfactory creation
More than just a collective, Korea Perfume Paris is a sensory gateway: a way to discover Korea differently, through the delicacy of its gestures, the precision of its artisans and this rare ability to unite gentleness and strength.
These houses invite you to slow down. To choose a fragrance as you choose an item of clothing or an emotion. Wear hanji one winter morning, Green Flannel like a jacket, Jasmine Martini for a happy evening, Mystical Rose when the heart beats fast, Become at a new start, Last Saffron at dusk, Yellow Cream for a moment of tenderness.
Luxury, here, is defined as follows: give style to softnessSouth Korea offers the world an inventive delicacy, a subtle but powerful olfactory revolution.
In Paris, the page opens. Korea Perfume Paris is the prelude. The rest will belong to the creators, the visionary investors and the enthusiasts who will seek, in these wakes, the singular signature of a Korea creative, innovative and multiple. Already, the horizon is widening: other capitals will welcome this breath, and with it a certainty, Korean perfumery is no longer a promise, it is a given.
