October 02, 2024, Gaydon, United Kingdom : Sir Mark Cavendish, British cycling legend and all-time record holder for Tour de France stage wins, has taken delivery of a new Aston Martin DBX707, marking the start of his role as the luxury carmaker's first-ever global high-performance ambassador.

Embodying Aston Martin’s intensity on road and track, Sir Mark’s appointment continues to foster a high-performance culture at Aston Martin, while shining a spotlight on its class-leading performance cars through unique creative collaborations. This new role expands the ultra-luxury performance brand’s presence in international sport, including its participation in the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1®.

Known worldwide as the 'Manx Missile' for his unrivaled speed on two wheels and insatiable thirst for success, Cavendish wasted no time in taking the ultra-luxury SUV for a spin on the famous roads of the Isle of Man, where he was born and still calls home.

An Olympic medalist and former world road racing champion, Cavendish has represented Great Britain for over two decades and is renowned for his extraordinary career, which included a record 35 Tour de France stage wins, more than any other rider in history. His dominance also extends to the track, where he has won gold in both the American and scratch races. Widely regarded as one of the greatest road sprinters of all time, Cavendish's keen understanding of high performance makes him unique and will play a key role for Aston Martin.

This new role will allow Aston Martin to tap into Cavendish's knowledge to continue building on the high-performance culture within the brand, while also bringing insight from the world of high-performance racing into the brand's product and marketing plans, and will represent the company at selected events.

Mark Cavendish said of his new role: “I am thrilled to be embarking on this new role with Aston Martin. I have long admired the brand’s dedication to pushing the boundaries, and now to be part of this pursuit of maximum performance is a unique privilege. For a car enthusiast like myself, it truly is a childhood dream come true to represent the iconic Aston Martin wings. Together, I believe we can achieve something truly remarkable.”

« I really enjoyed the DBX707, it's an absolute beast, handling the twists and turns of the Isle of Man with ease. They even fitted it with a bike rack for me! »

With a top speed of 194 mph, the flamboyant DBX707 is an ideal partner for Cavendish, who first drove the car on the Isle of Man's famous roads, synonymous with speed on two wheels. Cavendish's DBX707 is elegantly finished in Photon Lime, reflecting both Aston Martin's racing heritage and Sir Mark's connection to the color green, as a two-time winner of the Tour de France green jersey.

Cavendish is getting used to being known as 'Sir Mark' after being knighted in the King's Birthday Honours earlier this year for his sporting achievements and charity work.

Marco Mattiacci, Aston Martin Global Brand and Commercial Director, said: “ We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Mark to the Aston Martin family. The recent refresh of our core models has demonstrated that Aston Martin is best-in-class in terms of power, performance, and ultra-luxury.  Mark embodies our performance-led ethos, and this new ambassadorial role complements our existing means of communicating our brand's peak performance credentials, including our involvement in Formula 1® and the creation of the ultimate hypercar, the Aston Martin Valkyrie. »

« It's exciting to watch Mark explore the power and dynamics of the DBX707 on the legendary roads of the Isle of Man. »
