Renault and Alpine, great new products with an electric spirit

The two iconic French brands are unveiling their new e-models, with the retro Ile-de-France Blue color scheme for the Renault 4EVER Trophy and the presentation of Alpine's small A290_β city sports car. Let's explore...

Renault 4EVER Trophy, the iconic color, Bleu Ile-de-France, of the 4L from 1962

The Renault 4EVER Trophy show car reproduces the famous Ile-de-France blue color that appeared on the 4L in 1962. The new look of the Renault 4EVER Trophy will be unveiled to the public at the opening of the Roland Garros tournament, which begins on May 22.

Although production ceased over 30 years ago, the 4L has always remained at the forefront! The Renault 4EVER Trophy show car presented at the Paris Motor Show last year is proof of this. Inspired by the first-generation Renault 4, it announces the future 100% electric compact SUV of the B-Class. It will be talked about again with a new look when it is presented at Roland Garros, the French Open in Paris in 2023!

To accentuate its beautiful vintage look, the 4EVER Trophy is adorned with a new shade inspired by Bleu Ile-de-France, a color introduced by 4L in 1962. To enhance its refined technical design, fluorescent yellow accents appear on the roof rack straps, bumpers, shock absorber springs and wheel badges.

This brilliant nod to the Roland Garros tennis balls affirms the show car's adventurous spirit and the essential characteristics of the original car. The 4EVER Trophy will show its new color to the public at the opening of the Roland Garros qualifying tournament on May 22, 2023.

The first presentation of the Renault 4EVER Trophy show car took place at the 2022 Paris Motor Show. As Luca de Meo, CEO of Renault, said: “ At Renault, we love automobiles, we love cars! That's why we're participating in the Paris Motor Show. I believe that today, we have the opportunity to project our love of cars into a reinvented automotive modernity through innovation. This is what we achieve when we resurrect the rebirth of a myth. And the 4L is more than a myth. It is one of the most iconic cars in Renault's entire history. The 4EVER Trophy is thus a reinterpretation of the Renault 4L that traces the continuum between the memories of millions of people and the electric era. ».

The 4EVER Trophy, this renewed icon, is here to become an electric B-segment SUV. Thirty years after production ceased, Renault presented a modern electric version of its iconic Renault 4 at the Paris Motor Show: the 4EVER Trophy. This show car in lightweight off-road configuration celebrates the 25th anniversary of the 4L Trophy solidarity rally. It prefigures a future 100% electric B-segment SUV planned for 2025 and produced at the Maubeuge manufacturing plant within the ElectriCity cluster in France.

A290_β, Alpine presents its vision of everyday electric sport

The A290, the future small electric sports car of the new Alpine era, presents itself in the spectacular and ultra-sporty character of the A290_β (A290 “Beta”) show car. The first of the three models of the future “Dream Garage” will be a new-generation 100% electric sports car designed to awaken the competitive spirit in everyone and reinvent sportiness in everyday life.

The A290_β thus opens a new chapter in Alpine's exciting history. Drawing on its heritage and sporting DNA, the brand is setting out to conquer new market segments, particularly those dedicated to urban sports cars. Through its design, materials, and technology, the show car demonstrates a new way of experiencing electric sports, delivering as much emotion to the driver as to its passengers. More than a show car, the Alpine A290_β embodies the brand's strong and committed ambitions in terms of sustainable mobility at a time when low-carbon mobility is becoming essential in the automotive industry.

The choice of the name of the A290_β responds to the global naming strategy of the Alpine brand, with names beginning with the letter "A" followed by three numbers. The number "2" corresponds to the B segment, and the number "90" corresponds to the future range " lifestyle » from Alpine. Finally, the letter Beta in the Greek alphabet is used to designate an intermediate stage of development before the official launch of a production car.

“The A290_β marks the beginning of a new era for the Alpine brand, with the launch of the all-electric “Dream Garage” from 100. This urban show car reinvents the codes of electric sportiness. With a powerful heritage, the A2024_β propels Alpine into the future to live up to the competitive spirit that has driven the brand since its creation,” said Laurent Rossi, CEO of Alpine.

Antony Villain, Alpine Design Director, added: “ The A290_β combines racing spirit with urban influence. It is aimed at a new generation of enthusiasts. Through its proportions and technical details, it offers a first glimpse of a reinvented world of sportiness. True to Alpine's expertise in driving experience, we place the driver at the center of the cabin. The A290_β has been designed around this guiding principle, inside and out. It is a way of demonstrating our commitment to Alpine's DNA and our desire to develop future Alpines as we take the necessary shift to electric."
