In the global landscape of exceptional motorcycles, midual occupies a special place. With the Type 1 Series 3The French manufacturer continues a unique adventure, at the crossroads of cutting-edge engineering, fine craftsmanship, and the philosophy of French luxury. More than just a model, the Type 1 is the culmination of over twenty-five years of research, patience, and exacting standards, carried out in the heart of Anjou, near Angers.

An exceptional French manufacturer, rooted in Anjou
Midual manufactures its motorcycles entirely in France, in a factory of 1 800 m² Located in Juigné-sur-Loire, this human-scale industrial site, equipped with state-of-the-art multi-axis machine tools, allows the brand to control essential engine components in-house and guarantee a level of manufacturing quality rarely seen in the motorcycle world. Each Type 1 is hand-assembled, inspected at every stage, bench-tested, and then undergoes a 300-kilometer test ride before delivery. In addition, there is a four-year warranty and maintenance provided directly by the technicians who built the motorcycle, a level of support unprecedented in the world of two-wheelers.
A mechanical sculpture: the Midual monocoque
An absolute symbol of Midual's philosophy, the double-walled aluminum monocoque frame This constitutes one of the most spectacular parts ever produced for a production motorcycle. Cast in a single piece from an 80 kg blank of alloy requiring nearly 1,700 kg of sand, this structure serves as both the frame and the fuel tank. After casting, it is deburred, machined, ground, and then polished manually for over 90 hours to reach a final weight of 24 kg. A true cathedral of metal, this monocoque illustrates Midual's ambition: to treat the motorcycle with the same sophistication as a grand complication watch.

A unique engine in the world, developed in-house
Another major technical signature is the twin-cylinder boxer engine of 1 cm³, unique in the world for its architecture. Positioned in line with the road and inclined at 25°, this flat-twin was entirely designed and developed by Midual, then tested on more than 100 000 kilometersHigh-performing, flexible and with a strong character, it elegantly integrates complex mechanical functions, including the cooling system, in a constant search for balance, purity and mechanical clarity.
Olivier Midy, the engineer-jeweler
History midual is inseparable from that of its founder, Olivier Midywhose atypical career path explains the brand's absolute uniqueness. An engineer by training, with a lifelong passion for mechanics, classic cars, and exceptional motorcycles, Olivier Midy founded Midual in 1997 with a radical ambition: to create a top-tier French motorcycle capable of competing with the world's leading brands not through raw power or performance, but through precision, technical ingenuity, and mechanical beauty. Going against the grain of the industry, he chose to design everything in-house, rejecting existing solutions, which led him to dedicate over twenty-five years to developing the Type 1. During this period, he developed every component alone, and later with a small team: engine, chassis, overall architecture, down to the smallest finishing detail. This obsessive approach, akin to that of a watchmaker or jeweler, is a deliberate continuation of the great French industrial tradition of the 1930s, when engineers and artisans worked together to create objects that were both functional and artistic. Based in Anjou, far from the traditional industrial centers, Midual has become the symbol of a renaissance in French mechanical luxury, founded on slowness, exacting standards, and the transmission of rare expertise, where each motorcycle bears the direct imprint of its creator's vision and hand.
Olivier Midy devoted nearly 200 000 hours to conceive, design and perfect each of the 1 450 parts which make up the Type 1. Influenced by French coachbuilding of the 1930s, he championed an almost jewel-like approach to mechanics: polishing every surface, adjusting every part, seeking the perfect harmony between material, sound, and feel. His ambition was not to produce just another motorcycle, but a total creation, an expression of a very high-level French industrial culture.
A rolling artwork, produced on commission
First presented at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance In 2014, the Midual Type 1 immediately garnered admiration from collectors and enthusiasts worldwide. Produced in small series and exclusively made to orderEach motorcycle is customized according to its owner's wishes: polished, brushed, sandblasted or painted finishes, fine leather upholstery, specific gauges, engraved nameplates. It takes approximately four months to deliver a machine, offered at a price between 174 000 and 190 000 euros, which can reach 300 000 euros for special versions.
Midual, the rebirth of French mechanical luxury
More than just a brand, Midual presents itself as a manifestThis is the story of an independent company that champions a different definition of luxury: patience over speed, precision over mass production, bespoke craftsmanship over standardization. At its Angers-based workshop, clients are welcomed by appointment, just a few meters from the machining, polishing, and assembly workshops, where the motorcycle is born in the hands of skilled mechanics. With the Type 1 Series 3, Midual restores the prestige of the motorcycle. French-style mechanical luxuryand asserts that some machines do not just move: they tell a story.
